Does Fh help out

Original post by Espo22

I was reading another thread and a girl was complaining that her FH doesnt do anything around the house...This kinda made me feel bad bc my FH is the neat freak and not that i dont do anything lol but i am not obsessed with everything being overly organized like he is.

When i leave in the morning for work, i am running around like crazy to make the LIRR, i dont even have time to do my make up, i do it later on lol so i def dont have time to make the bed...when we get back to the house, FIRST thing FH does is make the bed, it drives him crazy, its like ok ill do it hold on.

He does dishes and laundry and likes to organize things especially the closet, which is a bit much i think...i mean the way he organizes it is crazy.

Im more of a person who likes things to be clean, such as no dust, sanitizing everything and things like that.

Does your FH help out with these things...for those who dont live together, do you know how he will be?

we are both messy people, and we hire someone to do the cleaning...lifes to short to be cleaning all the time!!!

I dont like anybody cleaning my things, i got mad when a few years ago my mother hired a lady to come and clean, i told her to stop. Alot of them do spot cleaning and also dont like people touching my things, im weird lol

LOL the last thing i do is clean all the time, i might put away things when i get home from work from the mess I made in the morning lol. I put dishes in the dishwasher, not hard at all to do...Ill do more when i get married lol

me too... .im real weird about other ppl touching my stuff... when i was in college, my roomie knew she would have to tell me if she went looking for somthing... i have no problem if i give permission to do so... but let me kno you did it so i dont get all freaked out (i may be 'messy' but i remember how i leave my mess)

i dont like cleaning people or people to do my laundry... even if that means i have TONS to do bc i put it off... no one is touching my dirty clothes (but if FH offers he can do it, and him only...)

i also have a FH like you Denise that has a spending issue..... i will do the bills.. and money managing... im such a penny saver, he will thank me one day

hahaha same here, ill say it might be a mess but i remember where things are in the mess lol.

Yeah i used to drop off the laundry but its not as good as when you do it yourself, i have very sensitive skin and they dont use the best detergent.

Yeah he is doing better, but still has the spending problem...I was never like this i was bad too but this wedding planning has changed me, im proud of myself

I'm the neat freak in our relationship...I don't expect him to as insanly organized as I am. Steven likes it clean, but he doesn't want to do the cleaning. I pretty much straighten up as we go...so its never too bad...except for the dog hair...thank god they are so freakin cute =)

Steven is an AWESOME cook though...makes a mess when he cooks, but...still delicious!

No complaints here.

yeah luckily it never gets too bad, i mean besides the mess i make when i get dressed, mostly everything else stays organized, well this is for me since we dont live together yet lol, but since he is very neat he just always puts everything away after trying on clothes, puts everything back in its place. So alot of time doesnt get spent on cleaning

FH and I dont live together but when we go away alot for months and he always helps to clean the house, laundry even though laundry is my favorite thing to do, I can do it all day, lolol, the dishes etc etc, he is really good with that bec sometimes I am lazy and he does everything or he is lazy and I do everything. We are both neat freaks to a certain extent also, but when we get married I am not worried about a messy house, bec the house keeper will keep it clean hahaahaha

If i stayed home i would clean alot more, just to pass the time...I mean there are days when theres alot going on and things come up, but other than that, what can a person do all day long, at least in the daytime?

i dont like people touching my stuff, so i make sure i put things away so the cleaning people do not touch it.

i am just not into dusting furniture, vacuming, and mopping floors, or scrubbing my tub on my hands and knees.

yeah i know how you feel. i am also always rushing around in the morning trying to get out the door in time, since i work in the bronx if i leave even just a few minutes late, i get cought in traffic. so i am always leaving things lying around b/c i lieterally dont have time to put them away in the morning. then at night i get home late (esp. lately with my night job) so it's the same thing all over again. FH is good in that respect. he helps out with the dishes a lot (i used to do them more often, but now he tries to do them b/c i dont have time), he is really anal about drying them and putting them away right away too. He also takes the garbage out every week (3 nights a week). He even did my laundry one night when again, i had literally no free time to do it, and when we cook dinner he always helps too. he is pretty neat for a guy but he isnt always so anal about it which is good too b/c then i would feel really guilty for leaving my things lying around, lol!

well i have two stand up showers in my house, and a jacuzzi, dont know why bc we never use the jacuzzi so dont have to wash tubs very often at all. The rest i dont know its the one thing i do like doing, i dont know i like taking something that is dirty and making it real clean lol and doing those things, again dont do it that often now but when i get married i will lol.

plus with other things i dont know i like doing for FH, again dont do it often bc by the time i get home from work hes been out for a few hours and is starving so he wants to eat right away...But i made him this one meal a while ago and he always talks about it all the time, when we eat with his parents he always says how he is tired of pasta and all this food and why cant i make things like what i made for him, he ALWAYS talks about it, its the cutest thing bc its also such a simple dish, not a big deal at all. But to hear him talk about that meal like its the best thing he has ever had you get this great feeling lol...So friday i made it for him, and the fact that hes eating it and saying oh this is soooo good, makes me feel good

FH & I don't live together but I've spent the bulk of my weekends at his house during our 8 years together. He cooks & I clean. He LOVES to cook. (My idea of cooking is a bowl of oatmeal ) I also manage bill payment & vacation research. I'll do almost anything to avoid having to cook.

Re: Does Fh help out

My FH is very clean and likes things neat. We have no problems with anything being messy or dirty.

On the other hand, when I need him to help me with something, I have to specifically tell him what to do. For instance, I keep mentioning the e-party thank yous. Yesterday I was out all day and left him a list of people to write the invites too and the gifts they gave us. I also printed the addresses on the envelopes and left everything out in neat piles. He played golf during the morning and claimed that he had no idea that he was supposed to write any of the thank yous even though I have been asking all week.

So, yes, he is helpful with cleaning, food shopping, laundry, etc. Anything extra or non-routine he has to be asked and told exactly what to do.

Wow- that was long! Sorry.

its shrimp scampi with rice and beans LOL thats what makes me laugh...One day i wanted to cook and i wanted shrimp and he wanted spanish food so i said ok well do shrimp with rice and beans then lol, this way we'll both be happy.

I find it funny how much he loves that dish but hey its easy for me.

You cook so im sure you know how to make shrimp scampi already...And for the beans, i buy the red beans in a can(first time i tried years ago i bought the bagged beans, yeah i didnt know how long those take to cook lol) but i put the beans in a pot but i also add in garlic and onions. You boil rice, then in a big pan you put some olive oil or vegetable oil whatever you prefer...Throw in the rice when its done and the beans, add some chicken bouillon and thats it. FH loves spanish food so thats why he likes the rice and beans.

And shrimp cooks so quick.

My FH is great @ doing the dishes, taking the laundry, ironing, grocery shopping and straightening up. Scrubbing, not so much.
