It's been so long, and I thought it was going well...
So, as I posted we met with the church the other day...
Priest states: Justin, your dad and mom have to stand together in the receiving line. They can't stand with their new spouses It's not about them being divorced it's because they raised you and should be recognized.
FMIL isn't thrilled, but she gets it, and understands. FFIL REFUSES to take take 10 f*cking minutes away from OUR day and stand with his ex-wife in the receiving line. Even his new wife thinks he should do it, but he refuses.
I am livid. It's OUR day.... not everything is about YOU, FFIL! SMH!

First FFIL is being an a$$ but 2nd my DH parents stood in the receiving line with their new spouses. The church didnt say anything about it. I say if you dont care let the new spouses be there if its ok with you and your FH...whats the church gonna say....you are already married by that point.

I don't think it's an unreasonable request for his son's wedding day!! My parents don't even speak, but are not giving me any problems about doing whatever I ask of them.

The priest/we have made ONE request of this man. In fact, it's the ONLY thing the priest was hard-lined about. Seriously, not a peep from us to ANYone about this wedding.... I am one of the most laid back brides EVER.
Your son asks you for ONE thing that will take 10 minutes out of you ENTIRE LIFE and you have to make a big deal out of it?
I hope he knows better than to bring it up at Christmas dinner....

I totally understand where you are coming from but in my situation its MY parents who are divorced and my mom who absolutely refuses to have anything to do with my dad - no pics together with me, my sibs and both my parents, and also i want my step-brother (dad's wife's son) to be a junior groomsman but mom is flipping her sh*t about that. i am so sorry you are going through that - just remember that it is your dad and if you need to remind some people of that so be it!
