We got a quote for a photographer- 8 hours with assistant, engagement shoot, bride/groom album with fifty pictures, two smaller parent albums with twenty five pics for $4600. Speaking with my friends, they seem to be paying more. I'm a big believer in what you pay for is what you get... No free lunches!!! Call me a cynic, Does this seem too low to you?

Re: Does this Photog. Quote sound right?
sounds a little high to me, we had an only slightly smaller package and no assitant and we paid under $3K.
we also had the photographer all day with no time limit - in the end it was about 12 hours.

Sounds right on par to me, thats about what I'm paying. Some photographers are less and some are alot more. It all depends on what you are looking for : )

I personally think that is in the medium to high range. Depends on what you are looking for. I am having 2 photographers- one taking candids in black and white and another doing both b&w and color. Includes parent albulms, a bunch of largers prints, thank you's, complete coverage of the day 1:30pm-11pm for about $1000 less than that.

That's a decent package with a nice size wedding album. The price you are quoted is not low at all, in fact it is on the higher side. If you are happy with their work then don't let the cost influence your decision. If you can afford it and you are happy with them, go for it!

Who is the photographer? The price does seem a little high, but if it someone with a rep, you may be paying for that....
And lisa, that picture in your profile is amazing!

Re: Does this Photog. Quote sound right?
totally shameless - buts here's another version (sorry I'm picture happy today)
What are you looking for?? will 8 hours cover your entire day?? do they offer the style that you are looking for. Have you exhausted all your options. If this is who you want and it is not a budget buster then go for it. I did not penny pinch when it came to phots, it is your memories for life. As long as you and your FI are comfortable that this person will capture your day, then go for it.
All the best and happy planning

If you love the photographer, then cost shouldn't matter.

Re: Does this Photog. Quote sound right?
I paid 3900 for photo and video - I haven't seen the video yet, but this was definitely a case of getting what you paid for, as my photographer was a horrible rude man who ruinded my day, and my proofs are barely average. I say look around, when you see photo s that really make you say wow, skimp on something else if you have to to pay for them if they are expensive. I never took this advice to heart, my main goal was affordability, and now I will always have the memories of this horrible man being mean to me on my wedding day, and my pictures are blah. good luck!

Re: Does this Photog. Quote sound right?
it seems kind of high to me also. your albums are on the smaller side.
again - photos are so subjective, if you LOVE this photographer's style, then the peace of mind is worth every penny!!!

It sounds a little high, but who is the photographer. We considered a few that were in the $5 range but decided against it

Re: Does this Photog. Quote sound right?
It also sounds high to me as well - I am paying less than that for a 60 picture album, a photgrapher and assistant all day from before my ceremony staight through my reception, engagement shots, 2 parent albums, the thank you cards, and numerous loose photos (8x10, 5x7). I am also getting a video as well - 1 unedited and 3 edited videos.

Re: Does this Photog. Quote sound right?
THere really is no 'right' quotes for photographers since there isnt a standard in that industry. Some photographers charge 2x what you got quoted, some charge 1/2 as much.
It all about the style and reputation of the photographer.

Re: Does this Photog. Quote sound right?
Just a bit of info...we paid about $2300 for our photog and the biggest mistake we made was our album included only 36 pics which is NOT ENOUGH in my opinion. We had to upgrade (they told us after we picked up our proofs that normally albums have 65-70 pics...gee thanks for telling me that NOW)...for $900 more! I was ****ed about that and never thought 36 wasn't enough so be sure about pics in your album and the number you are allowed with your package, I like pictures so of course we didn't want to leave ones out. Just keep this in mind and don't do what I did....
