My college is hounding me for $$$. Once people graduate, it's kind of expected to 'give back.'

I'm all about giving back but it's not like I went there for free!

my school got 4 years tuition undergrad and then 2 more graduate years of tuition... that's a HUGE chunk of money. heheh maybe after the wedding when things settle i will give..

you know whats funny - i normally never get anythig.... i was thinking about that yesterday on my way home.... got hom saw the mail.... BAM - got something from my college from teh alumni association asking for $$
LOL

On a weekly basis I get emails AND mail from my alma mater for donations since 2003!!! Its insane!
They would call me, if they had my number hahaha! My favorite part is how they try to 'personalize' the mail/emails with 'Hi Sireeda how have you been?'!

And at the same time, i get email reminders of my loan payments....really? cant donate when im still paying back the thousands of dollars!

I had hardly taken off my cap and gown (2006) before they were asking for donations. Let me pay off my loans first!!!

Yesterday I get mail from them with 'suggested' donation amounts depending on the year you graduated

08' - $100
07' - $200
06'' - $300

and so on. Today I get an email for donations for their basketball team.

Leave me alone!!! Don't you know I have a wedding to save up for? Maybe if you gave me a total scholarship I wouldn't be putting $300 towards loans! So many recent college grads haven't even found a job yet! And the ones that have been working just a few years are still establishing their careers.

It's just annoying and constant.

I get that all the time! And I get sugested amounts too. It's really annoying. I just through them out.

NYU calls me at least once per week. One time they asked me for $500 and when I said I was still in school and couldn't afford to give a contribution and they said 'what about $350' - I shortly hung up on them and now I don't answer the phone. Good thing for caller ID!

OMG!!! I hate those calls and letters!!!!!!
When They call I explain that I am not donating to Stony Brook and give them my story:
I graduated in freaking July last year because Stony Brook decided to eff up my credits and decided to change their policy regarding one of my classes which meant I had four credits not fulfilled...So i had to go back twice! Because the first time around the class was only valid if you passed with a grade of C or Above, and of course, thats the year I get a respiratory infection and I'm out for a week and mean TA who said it wasnt her problem and failed me by 2 Points I got a freaking C-!!! So I had to pay another 2 grand to go take this course over the summer and look at that I got an A...go figure right.......

So last month I receive a letter asking for a donation in the mail and I send it back with a piece of monopoly money and said, Your made up student can pay for his education with this. Since I saw your article in Newsday saying you wanted funding for a new stadium. Please stop sending me info for donations as your school isn't exactly hard up for cash as your rip students who dont use your cafeteria and dont use your buses or labs, and you have done no good for my future!!!!!!!! I am still a secretary with a bachelors degree that's currently the most expensive paperweight.
