i know it sounds so silly to get a domestic partnership now since we are getting married but i need to get his medical benefits so this is the only way we can do it.

i know. its important to me cuz my parents insurence is amazing but if i want to stop going to school i need to be on his since im always sick and can not go with out!

if you are not eligible for domestic partnership, you should look into GHI Healthy NY insurance Its 208 dollars a month You need to make less than 25k a year, and all you have to show is a paystub

If you make more then 25K a year i think thats they cut off mark. I didn't make it at a lovely 27k a year .. freaking insane i am poor as anything. I make less per year now (less hours at work since going full time school) so i can go on it but who the hell can afford $200 for health insurance when i make nothing!!!!
If you had a kid you can get a nice setup for health insurance.. or if you work off the books.

there are papers you have to file with the city of new york (if that is his employer) he would get them from the secretary that handles insurance and benefits

no problemo i work for the city as well and i think they are the same forms
there are some papers you need to submit with it - it should all be in the instructions

you also need to check when the benefit transfer period ends it is usually one month of the year - mine ended 10/31 so now i cant make any changes until next year

Even though healthy NY is the poor mans plan, its still alot of money!!! $208 is hardly affordable, but if you were to get GHI on your own it would run you about $450 dollars a month. FH pays for all his employees health insurance at the office and its thousands of dollars a month. He pays mine for $208 too.

actually FH and I looked into this and his company will not cover me because we're not married and the only time they cover unmarried partners is if it is a homosexual relationship. My answer of telling him that I used to have a penis didn't fly...

I think empire is also a reasonable insurance when u dont have one. ...fh had it for a while because his company made him wait 6 months

Hello!! Yes I did mention Domestic partnership...I get health insurance through fh..I have been for the past 3 years! Definatly check it out.. go to employee relations at your job or his and ask. Its really easy...they pretty much walk you through it. You have to sign an affidavate that you will spend forever with each other...which is obviously fine haha....if you have any more questions I would be more then happy to help!! Good luck girls

You should really really double check this...if you argue with them, they might give in. Its not fair that they can be discriminating against you. If they offer it to homosexuals they should also offer it to heterosexuals, its only fair. My fh company offers it and we have it...just double check!!

On this you pay on how much you can afford. I have healthy ny vytra.
