Dominican Republic....Passport needed??

We were just in the DR in July and did not have passports but wished we did. We traveled with our birth certificates (originals) and our drivers licenses. They had to stamp our birth certificates and I was a nervous wreck that something would happen to them enroute. I recommend getting passports!

Just a tip....bring pens and have them in your purse or carry-on. You'll need to fill-out paper work before going through customs in DR and it was SO hectic.....worse than the DMV!!

You 'Definitely' need your passport. Going with my job at the end of the month - and many people are now scrambling to obtain an expedited passport. The embassy says it is mandatory now.
Many destinations are now requiring it now.
