I am thinking of doing a donation to American Cancer Society instead of a wedding favor. Both my grandparents passed away last summer due to cancer and I was EXTREMELY close to them.
The ACS provides you with wedding scrolls that explain the donation and you can put IN LOVING MEMORY OF. I would want to put my grandparents names...
Here is the dilemma, FH's grandfather passed away a year and half ago ( not to cancer) and his grandmother did a long time ago when he was very young. I feel bad making the donation in loving memory of my grandparents and not them...
what should i do? All opinions needed PLEASE
Oh yea, and we are doing memory candles and vases and all the grandparents on both sides will have one... :
TIA huggy:

you should put everyone's name on the scroll that passed away from cancer. it wouldnt be fair to have only your grandparetns and not them, JMO
Of course I would do that, the issue was that his grandparents did not pass from cancer...they passed of natural causes so I wasn't sure if it is weird to put IN MEMORY of them when they didnt pass of cancer...
not sure if it matters ...I might just do the donation and not do IN MEMORY OF or donate to autism speaks

i did autism speaks and then got the mini car magnets. Autism speaks gives you cards explaining about the donation. So I put that and the magnet in an organza bag.
thats cute- i think i am going to do that..THANKS

I don't know if you'd want to do this, but why don't you make the donation 'in honor of' your marriage, and you can explain that it is in loving memory of your grandparents however you make guests aware of your donation.
Making a donation in memory of someone doesn't mean that they necessarily were directly effected by the subject of the donation, though, so I don't really see a problem in making it in memory of all your grandparents.
Thanks ! That is what I kept debating...like I didn't know if it is OK to put names of people IN MEMORY OF if they didn't pass from the direct cause... thanks for your input
