Re: MOB Dress - Did your Mom do this

I'm sorry she is being like that! :( That should have been a fun experience for the both of you........

My mom and I went together and had a great time. She picked what she liked. Didn't matter to me what it looked like....just as long as she was comfortable in it. She found a dress that was chocolate brown and LOVED it. That was my main wedding color which was my bridesmaid dress colors. But she loved it so much, that I just changed my bridesmaid dress colors so she can get the chocolate brown dress :)

I thought it was supposed to be a fun experience for us to do together .... and with all the opinions I asked from her so I knew she liked our choices .... I thought she'd be the same with me. Turned out not to be the case tonight. Really feeling lousy about it.

Sometimes moms can be just plain mean. I'm so sorry.

My mom went w/ my dad. I wasn't part of it. Just worked out that way.

Re: MOB Dress - Did your Mom do this

my friend's mom did the SAME EXACT THING and she was really upset. she thought it would be something that the two of them wojuld have done together. i guess some mothers just don't think that their dress is the big deal---they think the bride's dress is the only thing worth spending time looking for.

maybe she just saw it and couldn't pass it up... as long as she's happy with it, that's all that matters!

I went dress shopping by myself and she went dress shopping by herself. (So did MOG) I just made sure she told me her color so I could tell MOG to not get the same color. I wasn't concerned. They both looked gorgeous!!!!!!!!!

Hey, if she loves it (and its not see through, leopard print, or slit up to her butt cheeks) I say its ok.

Moms need to feel like they look good in what they wear too. I know that Mom and I have VERYYYYYYYY different taste (I think she's kinda stuck in the 1990s). But I want her to be happy in what she wears.

You will have SO many opportunities to bond with your momma. Don't let this one make you upset!

Not that i dont want to go with my mom, but as long as she likes her dress and is comfortable in it, it doesnt really matter to me - I trust her judgement and taste and i know that it will be my day. Dont get yourself upset about it

I didnt go with my mom on the first trip. I trust her judgement and she will be wearing the dress, not me, so I felt it was her decision.
However, when my aunt bought almost the exact same dress and refused to return it, I went with her to look at 2 of the choices for her second dress

Re: MOB Dress - Did your Mom do this

I went with my FMIL i loved everything she was putting on in the bridal salons.. looked great but she still wanted to shop around... then a month later she calls me goes 'i found my dress!!!' ok great.. im glad she's been talking abotu a dress since the day we got engaged im sure its great... well i see it.. its liek a tweed business suit...

so being the nice girl and not wanting to cause drama i jsut said oh thats nice color (the baby blue color was nice haha just not the tweedness of the dress/jacket combo)
soo now im devising a plan.. she keeps askign me when my mom is going shopping, now my moms one to just up and go buy something thats not expensive and looks cute which is totally me. and i am happy she's doing that ...
so i told FMIL that im goign to start LOOKING for my moms GOWN yes i made sur ei used GOWN in the sentecne...
and im goign to start at davids in nj (where i live down the block from me had great service too )... and maybe she'd like to come hahahahah aif i keep showing her GOWNS and elaboarte FANCY dresses im hopgin she'll change her mind and go get another dress to look similar to my mom not like she's going to a laides luncheon
phew thats been inside me for a long time thanks for the post and to let me go off on that tangent

Re: MOB Dress - Did your Mom do this

My mom and I first went together and she was very concerned about me liking what she picked. I didn't really care what she picked out, as long as she felt comfortable, that's what mattered. Anyway, I assumed we would go again together closer to the wedding. But she was in Macys looking for a dress for another occassion and found a dress for the wedding. She tried it on and loved it. I felt a little bummed that she bought it without me. But the most important thing is that she's happy.

Re: MOB Dress - Did your Mom do this

Both my MIL and Mother went shopping on their own and part what they wanted. My MIL brought me with her to see her dress and make sure I was okay with it, so I did, but her mind was already made up.

My mother sent me a link with her dress from the store she ordered hers from, so I could show my MIL, so she wouldn't pick the same color/style.

My mom pretty much picked out her dress by myself. She did most of the shopping with my dad. I only came to see it on the day she ordered it (DH came too LOL). I just wanted her to feel beautiful and love the dress. I was fine not doing the shopping with her.

Hi Ladies,

I did not have a good evening tonight.

Since my FH and I began planning the wedding we've kept my Mom involved, asked for her opinions, respected her wishes, etc.

Tonight my Mom says 'I went dress shopping and found a dress.'

No opinions or feedback from me .... she's getting the dress regardless of if I go and see it or if I like it (she has good taste but when we went dress shopping for me, she was browsing MOB dresses and I wasn't really a fan of what she was picking out).

She described the dress to me and I can't even picture what it looks like or even exactly the colors.

Anyways .... I thought that similiar to the rest of all the wedding plans, I'd look with her, voice opinions, be part of the process, something to do together ... I guess not.

How did everyone elses Mom's pick out her dress, were you a part of the process????

My mother picked out her own dress without me or my input. Was no big deal to me. She bought what she liked, what she looked good in and what was most comfortable for her.
