I originally had a budget of about 3000 and went over budget with my eve of milady dress, which will be around 4500 with alterations. But I love my dress still deciding whether to try to sell it afterwards.

My budget was $2000. Ended up finding my dream dress for $999!!! With taxes and alterations it will come to about $1500...

I technically didn't have a budget, but I knew I didn't want to spend a ridiculous amount on a dress.

What I did was try on a few that were more expensive (around $5-6k) to see if there was *that much* of a difference between the cheaper dresses ($1-2k) and the more expensive, and there really wasn't. At the end of the day, my mom would have been fine with spending $5k if it really was an absolutely perfect dress.

But my dress is $1230. Alterations are capped there at $350. I'm adding some appliques to it, which are around $200 each. I am getting a corset back put in, too, but I am not sure if that will go towards the alterations charge or if there is a fee on top of that. When all is said and done, the dress alone will probably be around $2,200.
