dress crisis: need a dress alterations person....

dress crisis: need a dress alterations person....

Called my alterations lady to pick up my dress (she called me a few weeks ago and told me it was ready), and her son answered the phone.

Apparently she is gravely ill. She was in the hospital for 3 weeks and while they thought it was pneumonia, it's actually cancer. And the outlook isn't good.

I felt terrible. Absolutely terrible.

So I'm picking up my dress tomorrow and it 'should' be done...but I'm sure I'll need some minor alterations and I definitely need a bustle - she didn't do one.

So can any of you recommend a seamstress? I'm in Manhattan, but am willing to travel.

Thank you - little stressed with only 23 days to go.

I know an excellent seamstress in Yonkers... She is the owner of the Golden Stitch on McLean Avenue... She is absolutley wonderful! When I worked in a Bridal Shop in Dobbs Ferry, she was thier seamstress.. I've seen her do some pretty amazing things (and she is doing my gown)... FM me of you'd like more info!

oh no - everything will work out. I am sorry, the seamstress I am using is al the way out in Shirley, which is way too far for you to go from NYC

Dont worry it will all work out.
Not sure if you want to travel this far but the seamstress at Fantasia Bridal in Rocky Point is great!

Bonnie, a friend of mine recommended a seamstress to me a while ago named Lina. She is on Wantagh Avenue in Wantagh. I have never used her but I received the recommendation from a petite woman who probably used her a lot for hems, etc ...

Maybe post this on the BHB board or the NYCWeddings? Not sure how to do that ... I think your username and password would be the same there though ...

Sarina, she's in Forest Hills. She did my dress and Songstress's dress as well. She's awesome. Easy to get to from the city.

Bon - i had my dress done in NJ and cannot say enough about it! From the city - it's not far and i'd totally pick you up at a train station and bring you there.

From the city - by train - Rahway is maybe 20 minutes (possibly 30)....from the train station to the dress place, 5 minutes!

A friend of mine got her dress there and that's why i went to them.. It came out PERFECT!!
