dress fitting(help)

dress fitting(help)

I went to look for gowns the other day and I was told that when I picked a dress I would have to go back to be measured and I would have to bring the size heel on a shoe that I want to wear with it, because the dress would need a colar to hem, hem. I was just wondering if anyone heard of this before?

I was told that when the dress comes in you would need to have your shoes go are going to wear so the dress can be properly altered, including your undergarments, for the 1st fitting..
Hope that helps!

Never heard of needing shoes to pick the dress...just when you go for fitting.

Actaully, I was just told the same thing. The dress I am getting ( picked it tody!) has work on the bottom, so instead of hemming it, then will make the lenght to size.

I put a small deposit on it today, and will go back in a few week with shoes, they'll measure, I'll out the rest of the deposit down, then order.
When it comes in , then I will go back for my first fitting w/ Bra & shoesand pay for the rest of the dress.
I think other girsl have mentioned this, its called hollow to hem or collar to hem.

have no doubts it is not unusual it is called a Hollow Hem measurement - I have one with my dress - the bottom of my dress has a band of intricate lace and Sworski (sp?) crystals

Anyway since there is no real waist (a-line dress) they can't take it up in the waist so they need to take an exact measurement so that the dress comes in the perfect length - I was told to buy my shoes before I bought the dress so that I would have my exact shoes that I will wear the day of to get the proper measurements.

My dress is also hollow to hem since it cannot be hemmed at the bottom because of work and not at the waist either. I don't think you need the exact shoes you're going to wear, just the same size inch heel that you are going to wear.
