Dress Fustration!!!!

Dress Fustration!!!!

So I am in love with a Lazaro dress that by now after all of my research I am almost sure is too far over my budget then I am willing to go. So I start looking around for other designer with the same look that I am going for that is more in my price range. So I stumble across and page in a Wedding Magazine that I folded over a while ago and see a dress that fits the description. Simple, mostly plain and one definitive area of embellishment, Mermaid, Trumpet or fit and flare... Yea I know I am specific but I and pretty good with knowing what looks good on me and knowing exactly what I want. The designers name is Martina Liana. I go online to look and their collection and fall in love with some of their designs. I check out another site to see the price range and now I am even more so in heaven as it is way below my budget!!!!. So I click on store locater because I know I have to schedule to try some of these on and this is with the disaster strikes.... This dress in not sold in any boutique/salon/store in NYC/Long Island. I am like are you kidding me this is NYC. All of the other stores are atleast 2 hours away and I just don't know if I am willing to go that far for a dress... I knew Dress shopping would be a night mare for me!

YUP! LOL. I drove up to CT to try it on. And it looked just like the picture, so i knew i wanted it! I was lucky enough to order it at a salon in NYC tho. but if you do go out to try it on, just find out how their ordering and alterations policy work.

If you know someplace local to do alterations, it doesnt matter where you order the dress from!! And if you need to do alterations there, just find out when you are taking the dress home

another benefit of order the dress out of nys is that the sales tax is less!! and the money you save can go to gas/tolls

Basically, i think it comes down to whether or not you will keep thinking of this mystery dress. every place i tried on a dress i thought of the dress i saw online...that is when i realized that i NEEDED to try it on...good or bad...cuz otherwise i would never give any other dress a fair chance either...

I know 2 hours seems far, but not really if it is the dress of your dreams. I think you should at least go to the place and try on the dress to make sure that 'it is the one'. If it is, see if you can find a place in NYC to order it. I know Burtons (in Huntington) can pretty much get any dress and are a lot cheaper. I got my dress for $500 cheaper. Good luck

My advice, first look at Bridepower.com for the Lazaro gown you love. They have THOUSANDS amazing sample gowns gowns for dirt cheap so there's a chance you can find your dream gown for an affordable price. They only charge $30 for shipping so you can have it shipped to you and return it within 3 days of receiving it for a full refund (sans shipping) if you don't love it. Plus b/c they're out of state there's no tax. Plus, if they don't have it online check out other designers according to style or call them. For a small fee they will search for the gown of your dreams.

If that doesn't work, then I would definitely travel to the store for the other gowns you like. HTH and FM me if you have any other questions about Bridepower.com!

You cant let your dream dress pass you by because of a 2 hour travel....make a fun weekend out of it.
I would travel that far for a wedding dress!

I was willing to fly to florida to try on some dresses in a really good place down there...but i cant get my mother or sister on a plane!

Re: Dress Fustration!!!!

i found my perfect dress at another salon that i really didnt trust or like. so i spoke to the owner, phyllis, at bridal elegance in dix hills on jericho turnpike and she offered to order the dress for me even though they didnt carry it AND gave me a way way better deal than i ever expected! its worth a shot to go see the dress in person first, and then try to see if someone else will order it for you. bottom line, they want your business!
