Dress Poll - Would you still spend the same? **DRESS UPDATE**
Original post by Colby212
For those of you that are already married and spent $$$ on your dress - having gotten married and spent time in your dream dress, would you have spent the same amount of money having been through your special day?
Was it worth it?
-From a 2009 Bride-to-be
UPDATE!! - So after all the advice, I ended up going to Kleinfeld's to buy my dream dress - with a catch, of course...
My dress was a little out of my budget and quite expensive..SOOO Kleinfeld's was amazing, they worked their magic and was able to sell me the sample at a discounted price.
The sample is in great condition, just needs a little cleaning and typical alterations. On my wedding day, I doubt anyone will even notice that it's a sample and not a new order.
I can't say enough great things about Kleinfeld's - they were great and really took care of me.
And incase you were wondering, I did have a similar 'Plan B' dress ready to be purchased incase Kleinfeld's could'nt work with my budget

When I first saw the price of my dress I was like because it was over the budget I had set. But I knew it was THE dress, and it wasn't that expensive as far as dresses go...I did some more comparison shopping and realized I just set a ridiculously low budget. So I got the dress and I never regretted it.... So yes I would definitely spend the same amount!

My dress is gorgeous, I absolutely love it -- and it was only 900!!!!!
I fell in love with an Eve of Milady dress that was like 6K -- I never went to Kleinfelds because I didn't want to fall in love with a dress in that range. I don't regret that at all, because I truly loved my 900 dress -- Maggie Sottero's Jean. I guess I got lucky!
I want to wear it again, I was joking about wearing it for Halloween, but I don't want to ruin it!
lol I was so going to wear it on halloween..but I changed my mine...I didn't want to ruin mine either

My dress (which I'll be wearing in a week lol) was really expensive. I kind of didnt plan on a price and was more like what I like I'm getting.
I love my dress...everytime I see it I really feel it was worth it bc it's just beautiful BUT then I think of all that money and I know I muist be insane

I probably spent more than the average, and at first i was like money is no object. i really wanted the perfect dress.
Then you have buyers remorse, but my dress was gift from my hubby, and he really wanted me to be happy, and he knows i have extravagant taste.
That being said, i voted that i do not regret it one bit. I love my dress, and I am happy i was fortunate enough to be able to have a KP gown.
Your wedding is once in a lifetime...unless u get divorced and remarried
I say go for your dream dress if you can afford it.
To me the dress was the most important aspect of the wedding...you figure for that entire day, all eyes are on you. ANd never again in your life will you have a day like that

Re: Dress Poll - Would you still spend the same?
I wanted a simple dress and found it for a mere $450 thanks to David's... I just didn't have the heart to invest in a one day dress.

I don't regret what I spent on my dress. I loved wearing on our wedding.
What I do regret is not taking it to get preserved yet I really must get on that.

I bought a sample that was relatively inexpensive. I loved it but was glad it didn't break the bank. It's one day and everything else is so expensive. As long as you love it and feel good in it, it doesn't have to be so $$$

My dress cost more than I thought it would. But I LOVED it, and every time I look back at my pics I love it more.

Re: Dress Poll - Would you still spend the same?
My dress was several thousand dollars and the veil was nearly a thousand as well. So for me this is a very difficult question. While I loved the dress, think it was GORGEOUS and people came up to me all night saying things like 'it looks like that dress was custom made for you'.....I think I might've been able to find an equally awesome and gorgeous dress for less than I spent, and then that money could've been used towards something else or saved.
So...here's what I would suggest. Go crazy - find the PERFECT dress. THEN - see if you can find a very similar dress for less. I saw other dresses like mine afterwards, possibly even replicas of mine, that might've saved me a lot of $. If you can't, then get the dream dress (as long as you can afford it of course, do NOT go into debt for it). If I were doing it again, that's what I'd do.

I had the same dress and I paid 1050 ! either way, it was so worth it i loved it. I thought I was not going to be able to find a dress I liked for under 2k and i did
It looks beautiful on you! I love it! I tried it on towards the beginning of my shopping, and then kept shopping, and was drawn to it in every store I went to. 900 was the least I found it for, and around 1300 was the most -- at Bridal Reflections.

Re: Dress Poll - Would you still spend the same? **DRESS UPDATE**
I was VERY close to two dresses. One was the Monique Lhuillier Clementine (I think it was 6k at Kleinfeld) and to a Melissa Sweet Dress (around 4k I think) I REALLY loved these dresses and could not stop thinking about them. The Melissa Sweet, my mother did not love. The Monique we loved but it was just so expensive. My mother was willing to pay it but I just felt too bad. With that being said, I searched and ended up finding a dress that literally felt like the Monique and Melissa in ONE dress. It was about 3k plus alterations. I love this dress so much and wish I could wear it again!!!!! I don't regret anything.
Shop around, don't go over your budget. There are many dresses out there!!!
