Dress question...

Are your bridesmaids dresses suppose to look like your wedding gown or are you having them wear a totally different dress? Thanks!

It`s completely up to you

and the girls, of course. You should try to find a dress they all feel comfortable with, whether you have them all wear the same exact dress, or different style made of the same color and fabric, or even if you want them all to wear completely different dresses. Bottom line, definitely try to make sure the dress is flattering on EACH of them, and not just something they feel obligated to wear. In terms of style, pretty much anything goes.

It wasn't planned this way, but I am wearing a strapless dress and each of my 6 BM's are also wearing strapless BM dresses. I originally thought the girls would all wear the same color, but the dress of their choice, but all the girls decided on the uniform look, which was fine by me. Their dresses come with shawls though. My wedding is in May and the color of the BM dresses are celadon.

Dress question...

I am wearing a dress with sheer sleeves and we were able to find a pretty, flattering bridesmaid dress with a similiar look. We originally were going with a strapless dress. I think the most important part is that they are nice dresses that your girls feel comfortable in. If it matches your dress it is a added bonus.

Really it is up to you...

My gown is off the shoulder and so our my BM dresses. But the truth is that was not intentional at all. It just happened that we liked the BM dress with the off the shoulder look. The only thing you need to be concerned with is the material and style of the dress matching the season of your wedding. Since you are an Summer bride, you would avoid, for instance, anything with velvet or a very heavy material.

Totally different

My dress and bridesmaids are totally different. Never even thought about it - just picked what I loved. My dress is 3/4 length sleeves - sort of off the shoulder though. My bridesmaids are wearing strapless (because we liked the dress) and maid-of-honor is wearing V-neck sleeveless (also, because we liked the dress). They only thing I did consider was having their dresses have a little beading on it because mine has beading. I don`t think I have ever noticed whether a bride matched with her bridesmaids. In a nutshell - just get dresses that you and your girls love and it will look great!
