Dress Question. What you do afterwards...

Original post by Celest

OKAY.

I better get off my tush & get this done.

So to my 08 ladies that already had their wedding. What did you do after the wedding with you dress.

You get it drycleaned at a regular dry cleaning place. how did you preserve it. You have to send it somewhere? how much would something like that cost.

As you can see I didn't do research on this yet, & I really should get my dress cleaned & preserved asap.

TIA

I was looking at the link you sent espo & there was a link to a bridal Armoire company

what a cute idea. I wish i had room in my house.

i know i saw that too, hahaha that would be interesting.

i think i might go with the gown presevation museum care link i posted...they say vacuum seals and plastics ruin the dress over years, and with this they use acid-free paper and put it in a chest. Hmmmm not sure but wont decide right now

okay I just called Meurice's Cleaners. they have three levels of cleaning, they do everything in museum archival quality boxes, paper etc. and the start at about $557 and up. They sound really good and were really nice & helpful on the phone but may be out of my budget now.

My cleaners handled my SIL's dress and it was $150 for cleaning & preservation in a nice box.

They even got out a huge stain from a RED mixed drink someone spilled on her

how is it in the box, is it sealed and then put in a box or no

I'm assuming sealed because it came with a note that if the box was opened, to bring it back to be re-sealed
