Dress shopping

Dress shopping

Hi girls.. Need some advice.

I found a wedding dress that I am in love with. I haven't seen it yet in person but just have a gut feeling about it. I made an appt. to go try it on this Sat.

My dilemma is that I am not sure who to ask to come. My Mom will def. be there. I asked my MOH and one of my brides maids who really wants to come. I really do not want a large group when I go dress shopping for myself. I know the style I like and really don't want 15 different opinions. It will just add more stress to what already is a stressful situation... good stress of course.. I am happy with my Mom and two friends just coming.

Is it rude of me not to ask my M- Inlaw to come? Also, his sister one time mentioned to me that she wanted to come whenever I went dress shopping. I am not even sure about this dress. I have only seen the upper porion of it in a magazine. I thought If this is the dress, I will be going back for fittings and I could then ask them to come and see it if they like. What do you think?

Thanks!!!

Re: Dress shopping

I don't think its rude. I haven't asked my
FMIL to come, I have just had my mom & MOH. When I get my dress I will ask her when I have to go for a fitting.

I only took my mom w/ me. My MOH was supposed to come but she was going to be late so I told her not to. The way I figured it was that it's stressful in itself and my mom's opinion was the most important to me (besides my own). I ordered my dress and will be bring my MOH and FMIL to see it at one of the fittings. I don't think anyone got offended. Do what makes you happy!

I think you have the right idea.. Dont take them now, and once you get the dress take them for fittings.
I planned on doing this with my MIL, bringing her to one of my fittings, however once I got closer to the wedding I felt more stressed so I decided against it...
I dont think its rude not to invite them, I think its a nice jesture if you do invite them later on.

Re: Dress shopping

the first time i went i took an entourage of mom, aunts, cousins and friends...
i learned my lesson!
i made my final purchase with just my mom with me.
i told my FMIL that she could come with me to see it when it arrives in 6-8 months!

I dont think a FMIL should expect to come anyway. It is totally up to you and going without her is nto disrespectful in any way. Dress shopping is about you and the people closest to you.

With respect to your FSIL - its a bit presumptious that she expects you to take her along dress shopping every single time you go. Like you said this is the first time you are going dress shopping - even if this is the one - you are most likely to go again - just to make sure .

Do what you want - this is a time to have fun - not worry about what everyone else wants.

I have only gone once - i went with one of my BM - i was supposed to also go with my MOH but something came up - I'm only going dress shopping with those closest to me.

Oh, by the way - do you have a pic of the dress? Who is the designer? If you know the designer you can see a full picture of it on their website.
