So, I haven't been dress shopping yet - I figured I'd wait until after the holidays. I've been planning to find a day that works for my sister and my mom.
I just found out that the designer I really like is having a trunk show at Kleinfeld's this weekend and the only time I could get an appointment was on Friday at 4:30pm. There's no way my mom or my sister can come at that time.
I think I'm going to go alone. Is that pathetic?

I went dress shopping the first time alone, just to get a 'feel' of the style I like without having others voicing their opinions.

I've gone alone and with people. Honestly I think it's better to go alone and bring back people when you find a dress you love.
Often other people's opinions may differ from yours.

I don't think it's pathetic at all... just make sure your mom and/or sister won't be upset about it. It might mean a lot to them to go, too. My mom would be really upset if I went dress shopping without her (especially the first time), but she was REALLY looking forward to doing that.
But there's NOTHING pathetic about going alone. You can get a feel for what you like without anyone else's opinions / tastes getting in the way!

Nothing pathetic about it. I went alone when I couldn't decide which dress to buy. It's almost as if you focus on how the dress looks on you vs focusing on what the others are thinking. I hope I'm making sense.

I was thinking about going by myself for the first look. I live in Connecticut and to have my mom or my bridal party come up here for everything would be insane.

Sometimes it helps to go alone, esp. if you are trying to figure out what you like best. I did it on several occasions and I found it really helped me narrow down my choices.

not pathetic.... I went alone to a couple of places.. it does feel a little wierd because the only reference you get is from the sales person... and I personally found one klienfeld salesperson a little pressure-ish... but def a great experience

Not pathetic at all. I went alone to almost all of my appointments (mom, sister and BF live OOT).
I was able to include my mom, sis and BF on a trip home and we all went dress shopping then too.
When I finally narrowed it down to THE dress I took one MOH to try it on again and I e-mailed pics to everyone else for their opinion.

I went alone at least 4 times. My mother never came with me once (b.c she sux). In fact, no one has seen me in my dress but me.
I felt stupid the first time, but I got over it quickly. You know what you like best. Just make sure you take some time 'alone' with the dress. Otherwise, the sales girls will be all over you every second. Ask for privacy so you can decide for yourself what looks good on you.

I did it by myself.. there is nothing wrong with that.. Some people just feel more comfy doing it that way.. YOu don't need an entourage..

i went once by myself and preferred it almost! You dont feel rushed or like your inconviencing anyone...go at your own pace. Then if you like something bring someone for an opinion. HTH!
