I'm fairly new to New York and I have no idea where to start looking for dresses. I really don't want to spend more than $2000 (and I would rather spend less). I don't want to waste my time or a consultant's time heading to a place that is way out of my budget. Any suggestions would be great. Thanks so much!

Re: Dress Shopping - HELP!
I went to RK bridal, they have a huge selection. I got my dress for around $530, so budget isn't a problem (although I think they have lots of more expensive dresses). The place itself is not luxurious, but I really liked the service I have gotten so far

If possible, try to go dress shopping on a weekday. You will get much better, and less rushed service.

The Wedding Salon in Manhasset is awesome, and they have gowns for less than $2000. I went there on a Thursday night at 6 PM and I was there til 9 PM. The same woman helped me the entire time and didn't rush me at all. When you go, just tell them your price range. They don't push you to spend more money.
Interesting, when I called there and inquired about an appointment for me, I told them $1500 and they told me they really didn't have anything in that price range. I figure if they sent me elsewhere then they really didn't have anything. Also, when I went there with my Girlfriend for her wedding she bought her dress there for $1500, but the only thing they had for that price were the samples that were previously worn.
