dress shopping makes me feel horrible about myself
Original post by SummerBride10
I've already went twice, but I dont even want to think about going again.
I know the sizes run small, so I'm going to wear a bigger size, but I'm just so obsessed with the number on that dress.
I worked so hard to lose weight, and I feel like I should be wearing a size 4 at my wedding, not a size 8.
I'm seriously paranoid about dress shopping again because I dont want to have a breakdown amount of my weight.
How do you deal with the 'off' sizing of the dresses?

Re: dress shopping makes me feel horrible about myself
I'm normally a 7-8, and they wanted to order my dress in a 12. I've been trying on the 10's and because they had been stretched from being on the rack, they are all huge on me as was, so to go to a 12 would be insane with all the beading on the dress. It definitely makes you feel like crap, especially when you are working so hard to try to make sure you can look and feel good. I argued with the woman about ordering the dress that big, and she said to me, what are you going to do when the dress doesn't fit, and I turned around and said, 'you're rite the dress won't fit because I'll be swimming in it. Come hell or high water this dress that I'm spending so much $$ on WILL fit, even if I'm on a liquid diet for two weeks.' I know the size 10 will fit, that's been my 'dress' size forever, and the 10s never ever need any further crazy alterations.
I will say though, my friend is normally like a 14, they ordered her dress in a 20! They had to do a billion alterations to pull in the dress back down to a 14, so for every alteration they made, it' cost her a fortune.
Just ignore these insensative people, you look wonderful.

I'm a size 8 in a dress...the sample was a 10 & it was snug....I ordered the 10 too.....need to loose a few anyway....They wanted me to get custom fitted for an extra $200 & something $$$....I declined. If I'm going to loose weight anyway, Why would I pay extra now (for my current measurements) when I don't know what my measurements will be then? They even called & said the manufacturer recc. that I custom fit now too....Don't they understand that most of us who want to loose weight for our wedding, will loose weight ?
