I had the world's most horrific experience at a bridal shop recently and would like to post the specifics. Are there any consequences to posting my experience and my opinion of the store????

Re: Dress shopping nightmare!!!!
OK I am not afriad to say it and I know each girl has their own experiences and opinions but when i was looking for dresses, I had almost the same experience at a shop that I went to. I am not afriad to state that the shop was bridal reflections in carle place. I know some girls have bought their dresses from there and for them I am happy they were happy with the service but for me...omg..nightmare!!!!!
I finally purchased at macys in manhasset and I couldnt have been happier with the service time after time. I totally recommend them. Dont let this get you too down or angry..I think we all have got to have one of those experiences during our planning. Good luck..and $%^# them!

Re: Dress shopping nightmare!!!!
It's not that I HATED the service at one place I went. the one girl was nice. She left me alone w/ like 5 dresses. That was fine w/ me. But the owner/manager was such a snoot. I didn't want to give her my buisness. She tried to say my hall wasn't elegant!!! ***!!!! So yes she lost a BIG sale!!!!

OMG! I had a photographer I went to start dumping all over a bunch of halls (even though they told me how great my place was) I could only imagine what they would tell someone else about my hall

Re: Dress shopping nightmare!!!!
This happend to me when we went looking for Bridesmaid dresses and I asked to speak to the manager who assigned another helper to me and apologized on the helper's behalf. The second helper treated us like we were royalty while the first rude helper kept giving us angry looks. We did not care a bit since she was a real b_tch.

Re: Dress shopping nightmare!!!!
Hi Adrienne,
I had a similar experience this past week at Princess Bridals. I hope you don't mind if I vent too! I actually purchased my dress from them in January from a wonderful salegirl 'Lynne'. I had no problems that date and I left there a happy bride.
3 weeks later, I went back their with my bridesmaids to look for their dreses. The place was busy but again Lynne was very helpful. However, there was another rude woman there who supposedly is a friend of the owners. She practically pushed us out of the way as we were searching through the racks and then as my friend was trying to get out of her way, she growled at her! Anyway, we were working with Lynne so I didn't let this bother me too much.
Last week on a Thursday night, I stopped in there just to take a peek at my dress (I thought that I had found it in a magazine and I just wanted to make sure it was my dress)...anyway...I stop in there and the store is empty. There is a young salesgirl helping someone and there is the same rude woman from the week before. I explained that I had purchased my dress there and that I just wanted to compare it to the picture I had found in a magazine. I told her the company and the style number on my receipt. With that she nastily says 'Well, I don't know what your dress is' I explained again that I had the style number and I knew the exact date that I bought it. At this point, a couple walks in and she says to them 'Can you believe this, we deal with thousands of brides and she expects me to remember her! I was so shocked.
She then proceeds to look for my dress but all the time she is huffing and puffing like I am bothering her (keep in mind that the store was EMPTY!!) She finds it and I realize the picture is not anything like my gown. So... I ask her if I can try it on and she practically bites my head off. I told her that I paid a lot of money for this gown and I wanted to see it on me one more time. She reluctantly let me try it on but was rushing me and was totally obnoxious.
Anyway....I leave the store and I keep thinking about it the next day so I decide to call the store and ask for the owner. The woman the night before had told that her name was Florence. The woman who answered the phone said her name was Katherine and she told me that she was in charge. I start explaining the story and she interrupts me and says 'I was there that night and I don't think she was rude.' She then says.....'Anyway, you got to try on your dress so I don't know what you are complaining about!'
I then asked her if I could speak someone above her and she said that there was no one above her. So then i asked for her last name. She said she didn't want to give it to me. I told her 'If you really are the owner, i don't know why you won't give me your name' She then mumbled it under her breath. I am convinced that Katherine and Florence were one in the same. There was no other salesperson in the store that night besides Florence and a young girl so I know for sure that Katherine could not have witnessed the ordeal.
Anyway, I am in an awkward position because they already have my dress order and i don't want them to mess it up but I will not buy my BM dresses from them. After I get my dress, I plan on finding out who the real owner is so I can tell them about Florence and/or Katherine.
Sorry so long...thanks for letting me vent.

Re: Dress shopping nightmare!!!!
I had a similar, aweful experience at Princess Bridals two weeks ago...is Florence the older, heavy woman? Because an this older, heavy woman 'helped' me, but she did nothing but act extremely rude! I tried on 2 dresses and got the heck out of that place!

Re: Dress shopping nightmare!!!!
Is there something in the water at these dress shops??? I wonder how they would act if brides walked in and said (not in an obnoxious way) 'I am prepared to spend (name your budget) at this shop but it all depends on the service. Can you help me with that?' I wonder if we would get laughed out of the store...

Re: Dress shopping nightmare!!!!
I have to say, I had a wonderful experience at Bridal Suite of Manhatten. The sales woman, Gretchen, and the designer of St. Pucchi gowns, Rani, were so sweet and patient!
My mother was being very excited, and when she gets excited she asks a million questions (mostly the same ones over and over and over again). She did this to both Gretchen and Rani...and they both kept their cool, and allowed my mother to ramble and ask the same questions. Even though they answered her questions like 7 times, they still answered it again, in the same sweet and calm manner. Those women definatley earned their commisson and the sale!

Re: Dress shopping nightmare!!!!
Ok everyone has seen that scene from Pretty women where she goes back into the store and tells that women off. Well my mother before I was born went to saks for a dress for a formal dinner she was invited to. She went with her friend who was also looking for a dress for a charity dinner. They both were willing to spend a large sum of money on these dresses. The women who FINALLY helped them was soooo obnoxious to them that they made her bring out EVERY dress in the store (the area where you sit and they bring out their collections) and some dresses more than once. They had this women running ragged. Then when they got her all excited about buying the most expensive dresses they said to her hmmm too bad you were so rude to us otherwise we would have bought them now you don't get the commission and they left. They called the store and found out when this women would NOT be there and returned and bought them. I told her about some of these stories and her response is remember that day...well If they are rude to us they will be having a fun afternoon

Re: Dress shopping nightmare!!!!
These places kill me!! If you want to go to a place w/ a good selection & nice sales people go to Lillette's in Baldwin!! That's where I ordered my dress.

Re: Dress shopping nightmare!!!!
Sorry you had such a bad experience! I HATE places like that. I second IrishTracy about Lillette's! I went there based on LIW recommendations and I had the best experience! Gerri is wonderful! I can't say enough about her! I told her what I liked and she gave me exactly what I described. She also wanted me to try on a style that she thought would look good on me. I tried it on and I loved it even more than what I told her I liked. She helped me try on dresses for over 2 hours until I found my dress!

Re: Dress shopping nightmare!!!!
Kathy,
Yes, Florence is the older, heavy set woman. She is RUDE! I hope the owners of Princess bridals reads these postings....I bet her attitude is turning lots of brides away. I don't even care that they offered a discount on my BM's gowns, I will not spend another penny in that place because of that woman! If she doesn't get her act together soon, they'll be out of business before you know it.

Re: Dress shopping nightmare!!!!
has anyone contacted the owners of the bridal salon to make a complaint. i am sure you could also call the BBB to make a formal complaint. they have no right to treat people this way. it figures, the dress that i am interested in only is at that store. but based on what everyone is saying about them, i will have to look elsewhere.

Re: Dress shopping nightmare!!!!
Adrienne thats terrible!!! Do these people not need to make a sale?? I don't get it. I hope Laura doesn't buy from them. If they don't want the her money, she shouldn't give it to them. There are plenty of other dress shops that would be happy to take her money and treat you well at the same time!!

Has anyone considered by passing the store when the dress they want is only sold there and contacting the designer and saying look I like you dress but the store you sell at has problems can I buy directly from you?

Re: Dress shopping nightmare!!!!
OMG! I had the same experience last year @ Princess Bridals with that same old lady--she was so obnoxious--I wasn't a bride yet-I was a bridesmaid and i was so happy i found out how nasty they were there before i was engaged! i must say though that the seamtress was the nicest part of the experience-
