Okay, so this was my first day shopping and I didn't find my dress. But I now have a much better idea of what I'm looking for and what I want to spend. We happened to be in NJ for the day so I shopped there (no sales tax! No matter how much the dress is!). First we went to the Macy's in Menlo Park Mall. They only carry Demetrios, and the selection wasn't huge, but I tried on 5 dresses.
The first was pretty, and only $900:
The second was VERY pretty but $3400:
The third looked 'eh' on the hanger but SO pretty on. It was $1500-ish, I don't remember exactly:
So, I didn't find anything I wanted to buy - nothing jumped out at me and screamed 'THIS IS IT!!!', but I'm starting to get an idea of what I'm looking for and how much I want to spend. Next I went to Priscilla of Boston - I'll post those photos later.
they are all beautiful but i have to say i love the first one

They were all Demetrios. I thought that the Macy's in NJ carried other designers, which is why I went there (Demetrios gowns generally aren't for me - my wedding is not too formal and Demetrios is really heavy on the beading, etc. that doesn't really fit the mood of my wedding). But that's all they had. So I tried on every dress in the place that had kind of a light, airy feel to it... which ended up being 5 dresses, that's all. I did like them, but didn't fall in love with any.
Good to know that Paloma Blanca has dresses with a similar vibe - I'll check them out. Thank you.
