Dress Shopping Tomorrow

Can someone please give me some 'pointers' as to what I should be prepared with when I go dress shopping for the first time?

I have appts on Sat & Sun!

Good underwear
Try to bring a heel similar to the size you'll be wearing on your wedding day and a strapless bra.

full coverage undies cause you may be getting naked in front of salesperson and/or family/fil's, strapless bra, heels if you want to get a better idea of how it will look

eta: oh and be open and try on diff things

First recommendation- don't bring a huge group of people. That was one big thing that I wish I didn't do. It was fun, but there were too many of us and I felt bad and there were opinions bouncing all over the place. I'm the first to get married in either family so EVERYONE wanted to go. LOL!

Second- eat before you go. I got sick the first time I went dress shopping. I'm still apologizing to Jessie for getting sick in the car on the way home from LI. (SORRY! )

Bring water- it takes a lot more energy getting in and out of those dresses than you'd think it would.

Don't wear a thong! Poor woman saw more of my azz than FH that day! LOL!

Leave your modesty at the door. Some places give you more privacy than others. One woman actually opened the curtain on me while I was pretty much naked and then when I balked she said 'Oh please, I've seen it all here.' Hahaha. I didn't like that, but looking back I have to laugh.

Be open minded. Try styles you wouldn't normally choose for yourself. If your attendant pulls some styles for you to try on, try them! But be honest about what you like/don't like once you try them on.

Bring a camera, on the off chance they allow pics!

You will most likely be changing in front of a stranger, so leave the thong at home. If you have trouble imagining, you might want to wear a strapless bra, but I wouldn't go out and buy one. You might want to wear spanx if you think you will on your wedding day.

Don't bring a whole group of people, everyone has an opinion and the only one that really matters is your own. Mom, a best friend, or a sister are usually the best people to bring.

Bring a camera but don't be surprised if they don't let you take pictures.

Don't buy the first day out, no matter how much pressure you get. Don't go to too many stores, it's overwhelming and exhausting. Try and keep it to one or two a day.

Be open minded and try on everything suggested to you. If you don't like it, what have you really wasted? I have helped plenty of girls who hated a dress on the hanger, didn't want to try it on, and ended up loving it once they put it on. Things look different on the hanger than on the body.

Be prepared to wear a size bigger than you think. Bridal sizes are usually two sizes up from regular sizes, so if you normally wear a 10, you would be a 14 in bridal.

It's dress up on a massive scale so enjoy the process too. Have fun!

I was wearing one with cute kitties kissing on the front...so embarassing...lol...and I wasnt wearing a bra....I knew better for the next time...lol...the lady didnt care because I'm sure she sees this all the time but I felt silly...lol

wear full underwear and a strapless bra! try to make your hair and make-up nice so you can better imagine how it will all look together!
try on different styles to see what feels and looks best. and just have fun with it!

You ladies all have stronger stomachs than I do. (obviously!) My mom still won't let me eat at Friendly's!

Bring a hair tie and wear lots of deoderant. You WILL sweat.

And def go with the full undies! But don't get nervous about being 3/4ths naked in front of the salespeople, they've seen it alllllll

Certainly a strapless bra and wear good underwear.

When you go... keep an open mind.. tell the lady what you THINK you like but if she brings you something.. try it on. You are going dress shopping since you asked this question I am guessing you have never been before.. so you never know. I swore I hated lace and didn't want it....I tried on a dress with lace that I LOVED. It isn't 'The Dress' but is really beautiful.. and I almost discounted it just because of the lace. Don't settle... and just try it on.. it doesn't hurt to just try on as many dresses as you can!
