I just ordered my dress on Saturday! Yay! But 2 sizes larger than i normally am. Has anyone else run into this? I feel huge

When I first went to look at dresses, they told me right away that wedding dresses run that way. So I was two sizes bigger as well. Don't worry about it!

i normally wear an 8 or a 10 and i think they ordered a 12 or a 14 for me.....wedding gowns (for some reason that i still cannot, and never will understand) are notorius for running smaller than normal. don't feel huge - think how incredible you will look in your gown!!!

It's practically normal!
I'm a size 1/2 and although the 4 (equivalent to a size 2) fit perfectly, she told me to order a 6 just in case, but the nemrod ordered me the 4 anyway.. shmuck.. luckily, it fit perfectly!

I am normally between a size 2 and 4 in regular clothes. My wedding gown was an 8. They did have to take it in quite a bit, but I think that this is pretty normal.

Hey, congratulations! I just ordered mine today and I have a similar, but opposite, situation. My normal size is an 8...sometimes a 10 (bigger on the bottom!). The woman ordered an 8--I thought it should have been a 10 to allow for extra room/weight fluctuation.
My bust is a size 2 according to the chart (oh no!!) My waist a size 8 and my hips a 10...I'm all over the place!! But she said since it is an a-line style, getting the 8 would be fine; I just can't gain any weight...I hope she's right; I'm a little nervous about this!!!!!!!!!

Don't feel bad - every mfg makes their dresses different. My dress was 2 sizes bigger than my normal size and fit me perfectly meanwhile any other gown I tried on in the sample size was huge - can't begin to figure it out!

Ditto - I ordered a 14 because of my hips! I'm small on top and at the waist but gotto love these hips! I'm usually a 10 or 12!

I am where it worked reverse. I normally wear a Jr. 9 and was ordered a 4. I am nooooo 4 but the dress fit me perfectally so she did not go by the measurements and instead went with what the dress said. It will be the only time I can say I was a 4.

I ordered my dress 1 size larger.
MOH wears a 14 & had to order an 18
1 BM wears a 6 & had to order an 8
2 BMs were true to size
the last - only time will tell if she can actually fit into it at all, cuz I think she's lying to herself as well as the seamstress about the size she ordered!!!

Yup, mine is two sizes bigger also. (Actually, 3 sizes bigger and being altered, because they couldn't get my size in time)

Me too. I'm b/w a size 6-8 in regular clothes and my dress is a size 10.

I ran into the same situation when I was looking. Every designer is different so the wedding consultant should know what size should be ordered for you. Congrats on getting your dress!!!!!

Yes, this is completely normal...my dress was 2 sizes bigger too.
