Re: Dress sizes
Depends on the maker but anywhere from 2 up to 3 or 4. If I actually bought my dress based on Maggie Sottero's size chart, I would have needed a 14.
Luckily a friend got married in the same dress(never altered) this summer so I tried it on and it was an 8. It was a little snug so I ordered a 10. Very complicated stuff!!!!

Re: Dress sizes
Dont even think about it. Just look at how it looks on. My dress was 2 sizes bigger then I am normally and even thats snug.Same with my bm's..my one BM is 5'2 and 115 lbs and they put her in a size 6 dress, she normally wears a 1/2.

Re: Dress sizes
It has been my experience that the dress sizes run app 3 sizes bigger. Like for example if you are a size 8, your dress might be a size 14, prob even larger. My sister wears a 2/4 and they told her that she will need a size 10 bm dress. Don't let it depress you.

Re: Dress sizes
It depends on the designer. A size 10 Demitiros gown might be the same as a size 12 or 8 by another designer. I normally wear a size 8, my gown is a Carrera and they ordered me a size 8. I tried on samples of dresses in all diferent sizes and I was all over the map in what I would need. They order your dress according to your largest measurement. (Some people it's their chest or others it's hips). I have no chest and my dress did not require a hip measurement because it's pretty poofy, that's prob. why I was the same size!

Re: Dress sizes
C'mon now guys...who really cares about the dress size as long as it fits you. It kinda depresses me that you even care what size the dress is gonna be lol you should care what you look like in it...and obvioulsy if they order you a smaller size youre not gonna look so great. Get over it.

I wish everyone felt this way. I just wanted to know for myself how dresses run...sorry if this offended you.....
And to everyone else....thanks for the replys....i want to make sure the bridal salon doesnt order too big in order to have me pay more for alterations. Thanks again to everyone that offered their assistance and advice!

Re: Dress sizes
don't look at the size! its just a number, and all brands are different and usually run way small. you have to order what you have to order but it certainly isn't a measure of beauty!

Re: Dress sizes
I wasnt offended...the bridal salon (and they all size differently) will measure you and they will know exactly what to order you..so I wouldnt worry too much about it. I think you took offense to what I said, but I just meant don't worry about it...everyone is so preoccupied with size and no one is gonna know what size you are...and even though you think they will, the bridal salon won't over size you just to get in more alterations...so follow the sizes they give you and you'll look great on your wedding day.

Re: Dress sizes
Don't think about the stupid # on the little tag -Think about how the dress looks and FITS your body !! I'm a size 10 and they ordered me a 14. - who cares ? The dress looks awesome when it actually FITS and you're not pulling and tugging @ the sample !!

Re: Dress sizes
i usually wear either a 6 or an 8. the sample of my gown was a 10, and that is what we ordered. i wouldnt have cared if they told me that i needed a 37, it was how it looked, needlesstosay, they had to take in the 10 more than expected. oh well, it fits fabulous now!!
