What is everyone having in the way of drinks? For many of you, who im sure are being surprised, what would you think would be acceptable? Meaning, i know everyone would always like to have wine and beer, but would the lesser options not be appropriate?
OR, lets say you went to a shower, would you be surpised/put offif there was no alochol being served?
This is what our choices are and for budget reasons, my mom and I are trying to choose but still want to do something that looks ok, kwim.
Soda, coffe and tea- unlimited soda, coffe, tea, beer and wine- unlimited soda, coffe, tea- unlimited and a champagne punch bowl Soda, coffe tea-unlimited and 1 choice of mixed drink per person

would be my choice- and probably the most common. If you had something else, I'm sure people wouldn't miss it.
Women dont go to showers to drink. They go to weddings to drink...bacheorletter parties...not not so much showers. Especially since they are usually early afternoon affairs.
If you didnt do the wine and beer...I'd go with the champange punch bowl, personally.

I am going to be surprised, but for my sister's shower last year we had soda, coffee, tea and wine. Everybody was completely satisfied with it. Nobody cared that there was no mixed drinks. We had a Sunday afternoon (at 3) shower so nobody was looking to get drunk, lol.

What time of day are you having your shower? I always picture a brunch type of thing for mine so I would go with soda, coffee, tea- unlimited and a champagne punch bowl. <-- Will they refill the champagne punch or is it a one shot thing? Or what about Mimosas and Bloody Marys? I don't think many people will really be drinking much at a shower...
I also don't think I would be shocked if their were no drinks at a shower...

i agree...i like the champagne punch bowl thing for a shower. I dont think you really need to have a ton of alcohol at a shower.

i too was also thinking the middle of the budget option of going with the champagne punch or some places offer 1 drink like mimosa/bloody marys/screw drivers, included. you're right that women dont usually except to be drinking a whole lot at a shower; so i think this is good. Thanks!!!!!!!
about the punch bowl being refilled- only 1 place mentioned on their site about it including 1 refill, other places didnt mention anything so i have to find out if they means unlimited or just 1 punch bowl and thats it.

true... bridal showers are the worst... i know my fam and his fam... and if we dont have booze there will be lots of trash talking about me... plus, i want it for myself too!

I woudl go with choice 2 or 3. Unlimited coffee, tea, soda, beer and wine is the most common. But if it is during the day, a champagne punch is really nice. I would ask maybe to just have a bottle of red or white on the tables instead.

I will have an open bar bcuz my shower is going to be co-ed
I think I'm having mine at an Italian restaurant on a Sunday afternoon so we'll probably do sodas, coffee, tea, wine, etc. but no mixed drinks. The mimosas are a good idea.

i would go with the soda, coffee, tea, beer and wine- unlimited. If you want to save some more, maybe just order wine by the caraffes and place them on the tables. this is what we did for my e party since some members of my family drink more wine than others, and some people dont drink at all.
