No to be rude but does the 'dry' rule apply only to your wedding or to the whole catering hall?

Is there anyway that you can have part of the day `dry` and part not? I don`t know if you would feel comfortable...but maybe you can have drinks served at the cocktail hour, and then have a dry reception. That way your brother could be at the main part, and would only miss the cocktail party. Good luck with this difficult decision and the rest of your planning. Jen

Michelle I don't understand your question. It would be the hall I guess. We are the only wedding and we have 300 guests. Naturally the actually wedding in the church would have wine for communion

Jen, the dry idea is so he can attend. His center will only allow him to go with a counselor if we sign a contract stating that it will be a dry reception. My brother isn't the type alcoholic who sees a drink and has to drink. He is just in a county mandated program and the county doesn't care if other people want to drink. They would be allowing him to attend it just one simple thing no alcohol can be served. Also, none of us will be at the cockail hour we will be taking pictures and also I find it hard to believe people would just want to drink for one hour and then not for the next four, that seems silly.. Why would I do that?? Also I would never (even if he was at the cocktail hour, but he won't since he is a groomsmen) exclude him from it just so some people could drink for an hour. That seems so insane to me.

Didn't realize you were the only wedding in your catering hall. Some do more than one event at a time and it could have been a bit difficult to have the whole establishment 'dry' I think it's wonderful that you care so much about your brother :-)
