Duct Tape and dress

Hi Ladies,

I post infrequently but really need your help. There is a dress I am in love with. Its by Jesica Zamir and its charmeuse with a low cut back. Some of you may know it. I dont have pic but it was on whose wedding is it anyway when that latino couple got married at city hall. I am in love with it but the issue is that I have34DD breasts. I was told by designer loft that duct tape would work becaues a bra underneath would show. What do you girls think. Anybody with any experience with this . Please help !. My wedding is in august 2009 and I have been to kleinfeld's, wedding salon of manhasset. and nothing compares.

Hmmm. I just looked up the designer and although it just says coming soon, the pic for the ad was gorgeous! So different.

I donno, what about getting some duct tape and than trying on the dress or a really non-supportive flimsy shirt?

This may give you an idea as to how it would work...and then maybe keep it on for awhile to see if it holds up!

Would you have to cover your breasts with duct tape? Hmmm....you could do damage to your nipples when removing it.

there has to be some better way. I've never seen the dress, gotta google it first. BRB.

Honestly, I would be a bit scared putting duct tape across my breats... I would just look for the cups that just stick to you as mentioned or something else. I'm sure where ever you get the dress from the bridal salon would be able to help...

I did that when I was in a bind years ago (i don' thave big boobs but had no bra and it was a strapless dress) Basically PURE PAIN and then reaction the tape. NEVER do that.

They sell tape you can use but if your big up htere they have a low back corset that might help.

There has to be a better option for you than duct tape. An adhesive bar (You can custom cut the adhesive yourself so it won't show) is the best way to go.

Duct tape would show through that dress, and it would take off a layer of skin when you remove it (ouch for the girls).

Fredericks has a seamless boustier:

And seamless strapless bras:

You can also go to b l u m s of patchogue, they have some you can try on to see what might work.

Lilyette, sold at department stores, has some nice, seamless, long line bras also.

I would definitely NOT use duct tape on your body at all, muchless a sensitive area such as your breasts. Besides being absolutely painful when you remove it, you could really irritate your skin, nipples, & remove a layer of skin if it did bind that well.

I WOULD however go to Target, Walmart, Fredericks, Victoria Secret, Macy*s.... you get my drift depending on how much you want to spend & which would fit your size best.... and get those like self adhesive cups that just adhere to you and they're completely skin toned.

I've used duct tape in the past and I DO NOT reccommend. It was very difficult and very very painful to remove. Also you can see a glare in pictures. There has to be an alternative out there.

I heard about a place called Bra Tenders where they can make custom bras, that might be a solution if they can make one low enough for the dress.

Good Luck!!

Re: Duct Tape and dress

all i can say is that those self adhesive cups will do absolutely NOTHING for you being that you are a 34DD. I am a 36D and bought them before and when i tried it, it was such a joke I laughed. I mean if you think about it, how are two sticky things youjust put over your breast even going to hold you up, it doesnt. As you know even if you have a bra that doesnt have good support how it can look. The adhesive cups just looked like something taped to my breast, its good so nothing shows, but depending on the dress you need great support or else with that size you know you will be all over the place so dont waste your time with the adhesive cup things, if it didnt work for me it wont work for you.

I dont know what the dress is like. If its very fitted with boning in it then it can support you. But if its low cut then i am gonna guess that its not like this, and unless its very form fitting you will need to get a bra or something. I did have one bra that i was able to wear something low cut, the straps are clear so not sure what your dress looks like, but also the middle part is clear. Ill post a pic of myself with the dress on and the bra with clear middle, it was the first time i was EVER able to wear anything like this. ANd what i would suggest to you is double sided tape that will do the trick to help you out. I dont know though i have to see the dress youre talking about.

Theres also other types of bras that you might be able to do.

here is the bra with the clear middle and something low cut on, and also had double sided tape on. I have other pics that are more clear lol but now looking at the pics i realize how revealing the dress was wow lol so i wont post the other pics, i can fm them to you if you want lol

Re: Duct Tape and dress

my only concern with duct tape is, what if you sweat? could it get slippery and slide down?

Re: Duct Tape and dress

oh i just read that the back is low cut if so then that is fine, there are bras now with low back straps. Here is a pic, and some have the straps that go even lower, of course the support you get will be a little less as you can imagine. So will depend alot on how the front of the dress is, the looser it is the less support you will get, if its form fitting it will help you out but by the fabric you said, not sure if it will

Re: Duct Tape and dress

I had a friend who used to use duct tape when we would go to clubs. Honestly it's messy and hard to get off. Your skin can get very irritated and the stickiness may stay on for a bit. Not to mention it will hurt to remove!

A long time ago I purchased a backless bra from victorias secret I believe. The front was a regular bra... but then on the sides it stopped and it came with these double sided adhesive strips that would hold the bra to your skin (kinda like in the area below your underarms). I wear a D cup size and it worked just fine for me. I was even able to wear completely backless shirts and not have to worry. The support was the same similiar to that of a regular bra. I think you can probably do a google search for it. Also, try to check victoria's secret. I've tried the sticker cups thingys from VS... but they didn't work as well.. and the bigger your chest the less likely they will hold anything in.
Another option - can they sew a bra into the dress?
Good Luck!

Thanks so much girls,

Google Jessica Zamir and you will see under coming soon the dress. It was also on whose wedding is it anyway on the one where the latino couple got married at city hall with the reception at the puck buiding. I called designer loft and I'm going to go there tommorow with my own duct tape and have them show me. Thanks Denise!. The lady did say it would be fitted to me and there would be boning.
