Duet Advice Needed ASAP

Duet Advice Needed ASAP

Okay girls, I don't have a lot of time because I have to give Duet a call within the next hour or so but I am really, really upset. I don't get a chance to post on here too often but I know if anyone can help it would be all of you.

Anyway, I booked my engagement pics with Duet back in August and scheduled them for next week. I am a first year teacher and I can't take off from work so I made sure to book early in order to get a day I knew schools would be closed. At the time, I wasn't positive of where I wanted the pictures taken but whoever I spoke to assured me it would be no problem at all for me to call the week before to confirm a location. Yesterday I called and left a message and when someone returned my call today things went all wrong.

My pictures were scheduled for 1:00 and I wanted to go someplace in Suffolk County to shoot at a pumpkin patch. Anyway, they are now telling me that since my photographer has another appointment at 3:00 in the city, I have to choose someplace else. I am really upset.

The last few times I have had the chance to browse on here, I have noticed several girls have mentioned that they are really backed up. I understand that, however, I think that scheduling two appointments so close together is unfair to both clients. Anyway, I guess I'm just wondering if anyone else has had any problems recently and also for those of you who have already had your pics taken w/ Duet, how long did your session last? This is supposed to be an exciting and fun day and I do not think it is right for us to be rushed or to have to change our location simply b/c he has someplace else to be. Any feedback would be great. TIA.

That makes me very worried with booking with them. They have been my prime choice ror photographer but I do not want to feel like a number. That's horrible that they would tell you to pick another spot when you are the one paying THEM!

we just took our epics with them 2 weeks ago and we were not rushed at all. Our appt was at 4pm and we got to the park at 3:45. Alberto was already there and just had to switch out his film. He had just come from taking epics at South Street Seaport. We used the entire grounds and he took his time getting several shots in different locations. I had reserved our epic date about 4-6 weeks in advance. I confirmed with them a few weeks out but never had a problem. I was told we could reschedule up til the day before. Our session last about 1hr and 15 minutes. I can't wait to see how they came out! Who did u speak to? Always confirm everything through email so you have it in writing.

I took my pics two weeks ago and I didn't let them know my location until 1 week before. He had an apt at 3 about 45 mins away, but he didn't rush us at all. We spent about 75 mins and then even helped him with directions to his next location. I don't think you should have to compromise because the locations aren't working. I would call back and ask for a little bit earlier apt because its supposed to be about you. Also, my friend used them for her wedding 2 summers ago and they got backed up in the Fall because there had been so many brides over the summer, but she absolutely loves her album and would not have traded the wait for anything, so I am not worried!!

I actually just did e-pics today with Duet (Nick).

For what its worth, I was soooo impressed with him- the session went for over an hour and a half, and he was incredibly creative with poses, backdrops, etc. We did it at Sunken Meadow Park- I had never been there before, but I did my research and lots of LIW gave it the thumbs up. It it was amazing- every backdrop you could imagine- beach, boardwalk, trees, dunes, pond, dirt path, us sitting on a fence, or in front of a brick wall or in grass, leaning against trees, etc etc. If you can work it, time-wise, I would REALLY recommend Sunken Meadow.

These are YOUR pics- don't change the location to accommodate THEM. That being said, I am sure there are pumpkin patches in Queens or Nassau. Or, like the other girl said, why not schedule it in the morning- 9 or 10 am? Hope it all works out for you!

Re: Duet Advice Needed ASAP

I am glad to hear that it's not just me! They have been really unaccommodating with me as well. After canceling my shoot due to weather concerns, they made me wait well over a month for a new appointment and gave me practically no time options. Also, I had wanted to quickly speak to my photographer to get his opinion on my location idea and was told that I cannot speak to him before my shoot. Seriously?? $4500 and I can't speak to my photographer for 5 mins?

Okay, vent is over lol Hopefully I will get some proofs soon and they will be beautiful :)

I think Sunken Meadow Park is worth thinking about. You aren't having a Halloween wedding, so maybe these pictures will be more versatile?
