e-party ...speaches

ok ladies,
our E-party is this weekend. soooo super excited!!! here's the question me and my honey were discussing last night...isn't it customary for us (us = HIM ) to make a little speach? His parents are actually hosting, and it will be his aunts and uncles and immediate family (my side is all out of town).
so, what do you guys think.....to speak or not to speak?

we spoke. We really wanted to b/c although we technically hosted b/c we paid for it, my parents had it in their backyard and our friends did a tremendous job helping to put it all together. We also had it memorial day sunday so we're glad so many people chose to spend the day w/ us as opposed to going out of town. I think they really appreciated being recognized. Go for it!

we're probably going to say a quick thank you for everyone that helped out and everyone who came and mention our wedding date too. nothing overdone though we both dont like the idea of making a speech

FH made a speech but uhmmm not a typical speech, after my MOH gave a short speech just to congratulate us, FH took the mic and thanked his friend for having the b*lls to talk to me when he didnt, all i remember thinking is OH NO You just said B*lls but it was a funny and sweet speech

He doesn't have to. If you do, I would both do it. Its not just Him and it's not just YOU!

We made a speech at out e-party, and our RD. My DH sometimes gets nervous to actually make a speech w/ everyone staring at him, so I took the mic and I made a long speech and I MEAN LONNGGG lol... and I handed the mic to him and he said 'exactly what she said! we love you all!' lol. but that was good enough. i'd rather have the mic!

Our e-party is next weekend. My parents are throwing it but they don't want to give a speech. FH will give a very short one just thanking everyone for coming . . . . . I will be standing with him but don't plan on speaking.

we (us=me ) made literally a one minute speech where we thanked everyone (especially the OOT'ers, some who traveled several thousand miles) for coming and sharing our special day.... no other toasts or speeches from others.... we didn't want the reception to die after a couple long soliloquies
