E-pic vent

I had it all planned out to take my E-pics at Bedell (vineyard out east). I even called Duet and set up the date/time and told them exactly where it was located and they said it was fine. Yesterday I got an email from Duet saying they would only go to Bedell if we paid an extra $100 because it's 50 miles from their office and they only travel 40 miles for engagement sessions. Seriously? I'm paying them almost $6,000 already, what is an extra 10 miles?! How does that cost another $100?! So annoyed.

FH and I got engaged at a winery out east and are getting married out east... We really wanted to take our E-pics out there.

Now back to square one.. looking for a new location since FH refuses to give them anymore money.

I love Bedell Winery! We spent a long afternoon there during a rainstorm enjoying our wine.

I'd try to negotiate with them. See if they could cut something else out or just suggest that this is really important to you. Does it say anywhere in their contract that they charge extra to drive far for e-pics? If not, I'd fight it.

I'd double check the contract but it's probably on there.

I know it's not ideal, and definitely the kind of thinking that gets people into trouble, but what's another $100? If you don't take your e-pics at Bedell are you going to regret it??

If you search online there are some closer ones (and if you mapquest this one from duet its less than 40 miles)...

Just checked the fine print on our contract and it says no further than 40 miles :( It just annoyed me that on the phone they said it was fine and then the next day I got an email asking for $100 more. Also, it makes no sense that 10 extra miles = $100.


We looked into other wineries that are a little closer but they either don't have as nice scenery or they charge you $300+ to take pics there! Bedell was free and has gardens on their property besides their vines.

I guess it's not worth another $100 to us as much as we really wanted to do it. We are already over budget on photography/videography so FH will def. not want us to pay anymore.

I should add that we're not being stingy... I know $100 isn't a lot of money but we're paying for the wedding ourselves with no help so we are really trying to stay within our budget and so far we've had a lot of extra costs that are putting us way over our budget!! We're not cheapo's!!

I think we can all agree with you on not wanting to pay the extra fee. you are giving them a ton of money for the wedding what is 10 extra miles?!?! but the contract is the contract so if you have your heart set on it, than just go for it. in the end you will be happy you did it.

That's ridiculous! My photographer drove from Suffolk to Brooklyn for our pics without a fee or a peep and when it turned out to be a cold, windy, day , he offered to leave and make the drive on a nicer day!

They should be more accomodating to you!!!

So my sister just called me and said 'Happy Engagement!!!' .....she called Duet and paid the $100 so that we could still take the pics at Bedell.

I felt bad because it wasn't that we couldn't afford the $100, it was just that after paying 6k and being over budget so far, it seemed ridiculous to pay even more just to go 10 miles over there limit.

I'm excited now that we're going to get the pics I was set on! Yay!

I understand both sides.. It is only 10miles (but a total of 20.. there & back?) gas is going up ridiculous! But with spending that much, you would think they'd would waive the price or something.. =\ But glad to hear it worked out for you to get your e-pics out at the vineyard you wanted!!

Well I certainly don't think you are cheap. I know how it feels to be paying for your wedding with no help. It's not always fun!
