Why, oh why can't photography be easy? This is the most important vendor to me (which, upon reflection, may be WHY it's so difficult) and I feel it's impossible to get what I want...We cancelled our contract with the first photographer and are signing the contract with the new one today. My current dilemma is engagement portraits.
I initially wanted Fall pictures, but that was nixed because of photographer #1's lack of availability. I really don't want to do Winter shots because it's just not really the look I was going for. Plus, I have a circulatory condition that makes the cold downright painful for me. Photographer #2 will gladly do Spring shots, but that will be WAY too late to use them for STDs.
Our photographer has offered to do a mini-shoot in studio for the STDs and then a real session in the Spring. Do I go for this?
I like the idea of Spring shots MUCH better, but what do I do with the pictures if they're not on the STDs? Do I go through the whole hair/make-up/nail/wardrobe process TWICE now? Does anybody have any samples/suggestions for cute studio shots?
SO confused! Please let me know what you think. TIA!

We used one photo for our save the date and we are using the others for table numbers. You can also use the photos for a picture frame card box.I recommend doing the studio shoot. Once you see the final product then you can decide if you still want to do the spring shoot.

I mean, does it HAVE to be inside a STUDIO? Why not look for some other indoor location? I obviously don't know you guys personally, but are their any interests you guys share that may take place inside? Or a place that means a lot to you? If I was in your position I would try to take indoor ice skating pictures bc FH used to play hockey and I used to figure skate. Just an example.

If you don't HAVE to have the pictures on your STDs then I'd just wait until the spring. Would you consider doing STDs without a picture?

Someone took cute pics inside a restaurant, I think prime in Huntington. You would never have known it was a restaurant BBC they went in their wine cellar.

Agree with the indoor shots. You can even come into the city and do them at Grand Central or the Public Library. So many options

You can use the Spring shots for table numbers or a table of photos from throughout your relationship with e-photos scattered in.

why dont you go to a nice indoor place such as an indoor greenhouse or possibly the vanderbuilt! or even inside a vineyard!!! :)if you really want outdoor ones, see if you can do in studio photos and then have the photoshop in a background?

I don't think I was clear in my original post. I really do want the outdoor Spring photos. The only way to get them AND have photo STDs is to do a mini-shoot in the studio (anywhere else will be an additional charge that we can't afford). I'm just torn about the extra money to do hair/make-up/nails/wardrobe twice...
I know we COULD do non-photo STDs, but I really wanted photos on them...
Still looking for cute ideas for photos we could take in the studio. Anyone?

What about using an indoor component of a botanical garden or central park with a few outdoor shots that you just suck it up and deal with the cold for a bit? A sunny day in February will look the same as a sunny day in May. Not what you are looking for but another option is to dress for spring and take shots indoors at beautiful places like grand central (just saw a couple dressed for spring doing this the other day).another option - do you have a great non-professional shot of you guys from spring/fall? that can be used too - doesn't need to be professional. good luck!Welcome New Vendors
