Hey girls-

My E-ring is white gold and is already starting to get tainted yellow around the band. I don't wear it when I'm cleaning or go in the pool but still it's turning yellow. I took it to Zales (where my FH got it) and they told me how white gold isn't really white and how's it's originally yellow and how one's body chemistry can effect it and blah blah. I'm sure that's true, but what I really wanted them to tell me was a way I can fix this problem.

Has anyone had this problem? What can we do? We have a lifetime guarantee.

thanks so much!!

My ring is white gold too.....It started turning yellowish and I brought it to the jeweler my FH got it and they dipped it and polished....the works! It came out as beautiful as the day I got it

This is normal for white gold to do this and itsnot a big deal at all! You can probably go to any jeweler and theyll dip for you....youll have to pay for it but its worth it! My jeweler said that I should get it done every 3 months.

HTH!!!

PS. Zales didnt offer to dip and polish it?

I've actually taken care of all my e-ring issues at Fast Fix Jewelry in the Queens Center mall. It was huge when FH gave it to me, so we went to the jewelry store where he bought it and asked how long it would take to size it. They told me a week! Hell no, I just got the damn thing! So we asked why and they said they send it out to be sized, cleaned, dipped, fixed, etc. and we asked where to and they told us Fast Fix Jewelry! So far they've sized that and my wedding band, fixed a loose stone, and cleaned it. It hasn't yellowed yet and I've had it since November (and I put it through the ringer- pools, cleaning, everything.), but if it does then I'll definitely go back to them.

I absolutely hate Zales now because of my E-Ring. I took it to the store about 9 months after I got it because it was getting yellow and the diamond looked like it cracked a little inside (it's not really noticeable but I can tell because I can no longer look right through it like I used to). When I took it to the store they gave me the run around about the diamond, even though I have a lifetime guarantee on it! and told me that I had to pay to dip it in whatever that thing is called because the gurantee is only for the diamond. I called customer service and I ended up screaming at the lady on the phone (I'm usually very nice) because she said that diamonds easily crack and I must have cracked doing a strenious activity. What kind of crap is that? Why the hell would anyone pay a tons of money for something that can easily crack? It's ridiculous. Im still figthing this battle with them.

I work in jewelry as my part time job and I get pissed when people buy white gold and the salesperson doesn't tell you that WG has to be redipped every several years. WORD of advice make sure the ring is insured before you hand it over to the jeweler because my friend's diamond chipped during the process. Kay's does it and Zales should as well. I don't know the cost though.

You can have it dipped in white gold again....My sister-in-law had a yellow gold ring and after a few years she changed her mind and wanted a white gold ring so she had it dipped in white gold.

Yes, as all of the others have said...White Gold is actually Yellow Gold and it will eventually start to turn Yellow again. Jewelers suggest that you have your rings dipped every 4-6 months but it really depends on the person. I got my e-ring in December and am going to have it dipped this Tuesday because that is only a few days before my wedding.

I also got my ring from Zales and contacted them to see if they do the dipping. The only Zales that does it on site is the one in Smithaven Mall. All of the others send out your ring. I do not like the idea of having the ring sent out. I called a few other jewelers in my area and some send them out and some do it while you wait. The prices range from $25 and up. The jeweler I am going to on Tuesday is called Goldie's Jewelry located in Hicksville. They dip the ring as you wait and their prices start at $25.

talk to you FH...if he bought the protection plan, it might be covered. i just bought FH somethign from jareds that is white gold and the protection plan was like $50 more, but it covered the costs of the rhodium dipping and anything else.

im not sure how much it was cost normally.

HTH . GL!

I've had two sets of diamond stud earrings that were both yellow gold. I've had both dipped to turn white (to match my other jewelry) and it cost me like $30 for both sets.

My cousin works at commack jewelry exchange for Behr Jewelers. I wouldn't trust any of my stuff with anyone else. If you want a phone number or anything just FM me.

It happens all the time with white gold. Have it rerhodiamed (dipped) every 6 months to a year and it will be fine. I just had mine done last week and I love having it done because it looks brand new afterward, nice and 'white' and nice and polished like it's never been worn

ETA: check with FH, most of the jewelers sell FH's a plan for free rhodium plating for the life of the ring, if he didn't buy it then it will cost anywhere from $25-60 depending on the jeweler. I think my jeweler charges $30 w/o the plan.

Re: E-Ring

check with zales first before you get it dipped anywhere.. if you have work to it outside zales you might void the guarantee you have with them!!

i turn all white gold jewelry yellow.. like really yellow. i have to get my white gold rings dipped occasionally... FH got my ering in platinum for this reason.

it can be fixed, dont worry!!

My e-ring is from Zales, and we have the lifetime guarantee. HOWEVER, the literature states if you get your ring serviced anywhere else you will void the warranty.

When I had a loose stone they polished it, but I had to send it out... which I will NEVER be doing again, so my suggestion is take it to Smithhaven Mall and have them do it there on the spot.

Nope they did NOT offer to dip it. And only polished on the spot after I asked, 'is there anything you can do for me?' about 2 times. I was upset with their customer service

Hi...since your ring is also from Zales, do you know if the dipping is included in the lifetime guarantee. Someone said on here that they only cover the diamond but not the bands. Thanks for the suggestion about Smithhaven mall. I definitely don't want to send my ring out.
