E-Ring
I've actually never been asked. I have a vintage ring and the size of the diamond is the LAST thing I care about. I don't even know the size of it! And I wouldn't know the difference anyway

E-Ring
I actually had two girls I know who are also engaged, and have similar settings as me, make the comment 'ohhh it's like mine, but yours is bigger!' This makes me extremely uncomfortable, bc while my diamond is larger than I'd ever have dreamed, it's not exorbitantly obnoxious, and FH knows a jeweler so he got a really great deal on itI tend to avoid the question when people ask by saying 'have I told you my proposal story...' and then beginning that. On our first vacation together, he put a cigar band around my finger and said 'one day, that'll be a real ring.' Had he proposed to me with another cigar band, I would've still said yes. It's not about the size of the ring or how much it cost, I am just happy to be starting the rest of my life with my best friend

I think if people are asking, they think its a pretty big rock! My sister has an enormous rock, but it has a major flaw in it so it was a decent price, but people are always asking her! I have never gotten asked but my ring is very small. When we got engaged we were 1 month out of college-- FH saved up during our senior year from his $10/hour, 10 hour a week job. My tiny rock means more to me than any karat number, so I am glad people don't ask. FH says when we are in a better place financially I can get a better one-- I yell at him every time!
I agree. My ring is a karat and no one ever asks. haha.
But I also don't mind telling people. I would have been happy if FH gave me a pebble. People that ask are usually just materialistic.
I agree... anyone that asks is usually materialistic and wants to 'size up' themselves to you.... not cool.
I haven't been asked about the size of my ring.

Re: E-Ring
I haven't been asked for the diamond size, but I don't think it would bother me. My ering is absolutely perfect for me - I don't think my FH could have picked out a better ring. To me that is what matters most, but I do understand that everyone is different.

It's such a silly question because there are a lot of things that factor into the price of a diamond, size is only one of them. I have seen plenty of very large, dull, and slightly yellow diamonds in my day.
Couldn't agree more! FH and I went e-ring shopping together. He let me pick out exactly what I wanted that was in budget. I chose a more expensive band b/c I wanted diamonds on it and had my choice of center stone. I actually chose a smaller center stone because it was of a higher quality (completely colorless) than some larger stones we were looking at.
Just going through that process with my FH and knowing how hard he worked and save to allow me to pick what I wanted made it special. E-rings are such a personal thing. I really don't like when people make it so materialistic.
