Yeah i REALLY need to get it done and soon...but you get it from where you brought it, you need to have it appraised which he probably did it already and you get a certificate...

I did right away. It costs an extra $50.00 per 1,000 it was appraised for.

Once I had it appraised, I put it on my homeowner's insurance. MY FI bought a theft/damage plan, but it did not cover if you lost it. I took an extra rider out with Allstate.

If you lose it, you will be devastated. At least you won't have the financial burden too. Plus, they usually appraise it higher than you bought it for.

I dont own a home so its not insured through my HO ins.
My broker insured it through Chubb which I hear is pretty much the best you can get....

I have one with State Farm.

My ring has it's own policy b/c we do not own or rent anything to add it on to. It is $275 for the year and if anything happens to it- they replace the EXACT ring I have (as per my GIA certificate). So I will get the same exact style, cut, clarity, color and size... And there is no deductable.

NO we haven't done that yet

i think you can just add it to your home owners if you have home owners

Re: e-ring insurance?

I just got mine insured about a month ago because I need to send it away so I can have my wedding ring made to fit it, and I wanted it insured in case anything happened in transit, etc.

I went to a jewelry store in the mall and had them do an appraisal, and then I insured it through www.jewelersmutual.com .
I don't own a home, or even rent one yet (I live with my parents), so this way just seemed easier.

i had my e-ring insured through state farm- which also does my car ins, as well as my renters insurance policy. its an easy add on to renters or home owners- but any insurance carrier could probably do it. i would do it asap- that way god forbid anything happens to it (theft, loss, etc) you get all of your money back! you can't beat that

thats what we used(jewlers mutual) we don't own a home or rent so we took out our own policy. We didnt want to put it under my parents home owners and have to pay them once a year

and you can get the appraisal done at the Jewlery Judge on Old Country Road ( i think westbury) he is awesome and the price was very resonable. jewleryjudge.com

You can add a rider to your homeowners policy or get a stand alone policy with Chubb or Jewelers Mutual. You will need a recent appraisal.

I have the same thing. God forbid anything happens, if it was insured for a monetary value, it might not cover it anymore with the price of diamonds going up!

DH had it appraised and insured before he put it on my finger or I wouldnt wear it.

I gave him my renters insurance policy number and when he bought it, he faxed the appraisal to Allstate. Done deal. I approved the transaction before it happened. I take no chances.
