How expensive should the ring be before you decide to insure it?

Re: E- RING INSURANCE???
well the going rate is 2.20 for every hundred dollars. Most home polcies will not schedule anything over a certain amount. Some are 2500, some are 5000, some go up to 10,000, so make sure you chk the fine print in your home policy. Like i said Chubb just started that a couple months ago so maybe you had it insd b4 then

Re: E- RING INSURANCE???
i just did the math with the amount you wrote 2.20, thats 86 bucks a month, i think its def worth it. but it ***** that chub wants other things to insure. are their rates competitive? anyone have home or business insurance with them?
how come the stars cover up the word s u c k s? lol

Re: E- RING INSURANCE???
lol did the math again, its 67 bucks.
just to make sure
you take the amount of your ring, divide by 100, then multiply by 2.20 which will give me the amount per year and then divide by 12 to get monthly rate, right?

Re: E- RING INSURANCE???
Exactly, I would only go with Chubb if you are insuring an expensive home with them. I find Travelers to be the best for a renters & sched, oh & auto too. They will give 10% off your home then another 10% off your auto if you insure both with them, and the sced is the same as Chubb. But, chubbs home & auto are more expensive then Travelers, but you are getting really good coverage with Chubb, but thats why Chubb is best for higher value homes

Re: E- RING INSURANCE???
Interesting...
I never got mine appraised or insured, but I 'lost' it once. It was the worst feeling in the world (because it has such sentimental value). I don't know if insurance would have helped.
I DID however scoop through sand looking & finding a friend's wedding band (word of advise...don't wear rings at the beach...you will never find them...it does this SINK thing).

Re: E- RING INSURANCE???
I have mine through Jewelers Mutual. My wedding band is also insured and I have a rider for other jewelry.
You are going to need an appraisal first, so definitely get one.
I am not too sure but it is like 100 a year I think. I could be completely wrong though.

Re: E- RING INSURANCE???
I insured both my e-ring and my wedding band with Jewelers Mutual and it is between $300 and $400 for the year.
ETA: We investigated insuring it through FH's homeowners' but ultimately opted not to because the coverage they would provide was not as good.

Re: E- RING INSURANCE???
My ring is insured, actually that night later on, after we got engaged (OMG that makes no sense!) he had me sign the paper for it. Makes me feel better. I think he went through his regular agency but I dunno who he has lol

Re: E- RING INSURANCE???
jewelers mutual, 200-250 a year. It depends on the cost of the ring. I chose this one because it is covered whether it is lost or stolen. Some insurances like home owners only cover if it is stolen from the house. Also, they allow you to go back to your jeweler for a new ring and not theirs. I like the piece of mind.
