i went to see chateau briand yesterday and it really was gorgeous plus we got a great quote right where we wanted to be for both a friday and saturday in november. both me and fh really loved it, but when we went home we realized that on the friday night the reception would only start at 830, which means dinner wouldnt be served till almost 11. i know my family and no one is going to want to wait till 11 to eat.. so my question is, which reception halls start friday receptions between 6 and 730 at night. any help is greatly appreciated!!

Re: early receptions?
I don't know if you have your heart set on a November wedding, but my BIL's sister got married on Columbus Day. I remember cocktail hour started at like 5 or 5:30, so dinner had to be at a little bit more reasonable time than 11.
Also, I went to my friend's wedding in Pittsburgh a few years ago and they served the dinner first and then the DJ put on the dancing music. So that pushed up dinnertime a bit.

thanks for the input. the only reason we wanted the november wedding was it was definitly more reasonably priced for us, and during the thanksgiving weekend the out of town family would be here anyways so it would save them another trip.. its just dinner at 11 is way to late for us.

Re: early receptions?
Its not like your guests are going to be starving by dinner time. They have all that food at the cocktail hour. plus, its a wedding, so its not people's normal schedule and they know that.

yea we took that into consideration, but we are planning on getting marriage at a church, not having the cermony at the rh, and since it gets dark early in november, wed be having the church service early so all of our pictures arent taken at night.. and knowing my family since there will be a large gap they'll eat in between and im more concerned with the dinner and/or cocktail hour not being eatten at all, plus theyre are going to be a lot of small children at our wedding and i know my cousins are going to want to wait till 11 to feed their kids so im just trying to keep my options open and see which halls offer an earlier reception

I think that the Chateau La Mer allows you to choose your start time on Friday nights. Also, I believe North Ritz Club too.

Re: early receptions?
I dont think you will have any problems with guests starving at the CB. I am having my reception at a church at 5 and my CH starts at 7:30. CB offers a complementary service where if your guests arrive early, they will serve them drinks and pastries and cookies before CH. So think about it, your guests will be eating before CH, during CH, and then at the reception. I personally dont think anyone will be starving. JMO
I also went to see the NRC. IF you do a Friday night, I believe you can choose your time. If you do a Sat, you cant since they do an afternoon wedding and an evening wedding there.

Re: early receptions?
also, the reason Chateau Briand does this is because people tend to be late on Friday weddings because of work, traffic, etc.

thanks im going to have to check them out!! the saturday we looked at would start at 730 with them, which wouldnt be a problem, we were just worried about the friday starting at 830. i think it might be starting late because we chose black friday?? i dont know but that was the earliest it could start and since everyone is going to be off anyways that day i was kinda hoping for an earlier start time.

Re: early receptions?
CLM has two different start times on Friday nights...we are having our reception at 8pm...you can choose to have the 5:30 start though...we didnt want our wedding to be finished at 10:30 so we opted for the later one...
