I think that you have to pay for even the rooms that are not booked that you block! You will lose the money if all ten rooms are not booked! This is why I did not block at the east wind!

Re: East Wind Brides
we only blocked rooms there once we knew for sure who wanted to stay and my mom got their 50% deposit...they gave her the $$$ and she put it on her credit card... so it is sure thing they are staying there...and they wont back out...you do have to pay but if you do it that way it isnt too big of a deal cause you have the $$$ from the guests

Hi Ladies!! Two Questions:
1- Are any of you taking pics nearby? If so, where?
2- For girls who are having their ceremony at the Estate, what are you doing for an indoor alternative? My mom called and they don't provide you with an indoor arbor, so hw do you plan to decorate? I am concerned, because if I am planning on having the ceremoy outdoors, then I will not have ordered flowers, etc...
I am doig pics beforehand since FH and I are getting married there. We are doing pics by some lakes near my mom's, and then not seeing each other again until I walk down the aisle.
IF IT RAINS , than we will hold the ceremony inside. My florist knows the deal, and he will use our CPs and some other decorations to make the ballroom look pretty. He put a rain plan in our contract, and he can make it happen within 24 hrs notice. I can call him the night before if weather predicts rain.

Hey, there was a question on the BHB board and was wondering if any of you saw it??
Was re: possibly needing placecards for East Wind. I know when we booked the Estate we were told we didn't need them b/c they escort guests to the tables. Now, I'm wondering if they still do.
Anyone know??

As far as I know I believe the do escort guests to the table. I am going there on thursday though if anyone would like me to double check.

Re: East Wind Brides
That would be great if you didn't mind checking. It's amazing how something so little can completely throw you off, and cause concern.
I wonder if it matters based on the hall or location you're in?

I will check, but I was told that guests would be escorted and I am in the Country Gardens. I will definitely check on thursday when I go and I will say I also have a friend who is getting married in the estate and if they do that in other rooms. Don't worry, I got your back! I will report back thursday afternoon (I am going at 1pm). Anything else while I am there?

YOu only need placecards if you are not choosing your guests to be escorted to their tables when they walk in.
However, if you have 200 + guests, they will not do the escorting only b/c its too many people for them and its just way too confusing and the area gets crowded and it turns to chaos. In that case, you will need the placecards which is ONLY in lieu of escorting.....only one or other not both.
Sorry, I'm 05, not '06, but I figured I can offer help

Re: East Wind Brides
Ok, I got most of your questions answered (for those whose questions weren't answered, I am sorry...I was distracted by some busy looking chairs )
1) There is no tasting at East Wind. The closest you will get to that is go to the bridal shows, but there is not specific individual tasting. I was told this more then once before.
2)I am having mine at the Country Gardens and they said they will escort guests (or if I want to use place cards instead, that's fine too). However, he did say that the other buildings were not keen on doing that anymore because there are more guests. My best suggestion is to call and ask specificly about your room and tell them the # of guests you are having. They are still doing that at they Country Gardens because the weddings there average at about 100 guests or less.
Now...has anyone seen the new chairs? I am not thrilled. Because there are so many colors in the Gardens I feel it makes the room look too busy. Maybe it's just me, but it's not my taste. My mom is going to go w/ me to the next show to look at them. We are considering chair covers now.

Re: East Wind Brides
I'm getting married at the Estate, and hate the chairs as well! I hated the old ones, and was so excited to hear they were getting new ones, and is right.
Has anyone seen the Estate done in chair covers?

Re: East Wind Brides
Yes i was just there 2 days ago, the chairs are very nice @ the estate & the rug is nice as well, looks very very similar to the old ones maybe alittle less busy..........
AS for that choc thing, i bel they said $495 rental fee and $1 extra PP.........For that much I will prob not go for it, just seems for the amount of time it will be out, it seems alot!!!!!! EVen though EW owns this choc thing we still have a rental charge ....
i just made another payment!
I actually dec to get dressed out there @ the INN, It just seems right, I live in wantagh soooo I can't see having to rush out there, i'd rather just be out there, the rooms are clean & very pretty to take a few b4 pics u know....

Re: East Wind Brides
i am kind of annoyed, i was told that there WAS the escorting thing- and they knew my minimum was 200- and could go over- and they told me there WAS a tasting and I asked if it is the showcase and they said NO... I hate finding things out this way
