Did you try blocking rooms at the Best Western in riverhead? They provide a free shuttle if there are 15 rooms booked that night! That is what we did. I would also have the group sales manager at the Hampton inn find out if you can get a shuttle servcie for a fee! It would be easier for you guests!

we blocked at best western too

BUT just to add if youre not a fan of the deposit idea, which my parents werent either, you can do it this way... my parents told close family and friends about the inn, MANY expressed interest in staying there...so she decided to get their money and then block the rooms, so she wasnt stuck with paying for it if people bailed on her!

good luck!

Another East Wind bride checking in. I booked them two weeks ago. YEAH!!! I wanted to do the Sunday twilight, but someone had already booked the morning, so I am doing evening.

Now I just have to get the rest of my vendors figured out. On the one thing at a time theory, we are currently looking at photographers.

Ok...I called the planner and spoke to Joseph. He said that the 'girls nite out' is a planning seminar and they serve cheese and champagne and they go over all the services that we need to get for the wedding day with tips and hints.
He said that there will be representatives from photographers and DJs there...he said that there were going to be a few vendors there. It sounds like a mini showcase almost. I signed up for the one on September 22. I asked if I had to pay for this and he told me that it is part of East Winds and that it is included. I figure that I need all the help I can get . I hope to see some of you girls there... I don't wanna be sitting in a room all by myself half bombed on champagne.

Why, oh why are things always on Thursday nights????

My parents looked into the Best Western, but I think it is too out of the way in Riverhead. The church is in Sayville. The Hampton Inn is between the church and East Wind. So this way my parents can go to the church, then the Hampton Inn between church and reception, and then to the East Wind.

Thanks for the help anyway!

Great! It makes me so nervous every time of think of something and every time I review my contract! Are you going to Rolling Pin before the final menu selection to sample their cakes? We have to pick the cake we want at that final selection!

Do we look @ cake pics @ east winds appt's or have to make an appt with the outside bakery???

I need to test the cake out stinky that EW can't just do it in house......

Pastry chefs are expensive to hire. I totally forgot to ask about picking out the cake b/c I was so upset that it was Rolling Pin. I went to a bridal showcase (not at East Wind) and Rolling Pin was the bakery and the cake was HORRIBLE!! I am hoping it was a total fluke, and will make sure I taste the cake at the next East Wind showcase. If I still don't like it EW said I could bring in my own, and they will not charge me to cut it.

Yup you look through books at the EW when you pick your menu. I will make an appointment with Rolling Pin myself to try their cakes.

Ok I think I missed something...
I thought East Wind provided a cake as part of the cost per person?
Is that not true?

That is true - they get the cake through a bakery called the Rolling Pin though. Then you get to choose from a book of cakes I'm guessing.

I still need to block rooms and the ambassador suite for our wedding. FH is not down w/ how much the $$ the rooms are, and the whole deposit fiasco, but our friends are willing to spend the $ for the convenience.

Vent- I'm getting really mad at the people at East Wind. So far my BM is great but to be honest I haven't needed anything from him since we booked. However, everyone in the Inn is difficult to work with. It took forever to get the person who blocks the rooms to call me back. Finally I got the contract signed and returned but I have one last question. I guess that woman is now on maternity leave and some other guy won't call me back. I've left two messages! And I've also been leaving messages for the person who schedules the lobby for pictures and he isn't call ing me back! Is anyone else having these problems?

Re: East Wind Brides

that stinks...I wonder why you need to book a lobby time with someone different? Who was your BM?

As much as I like EW, I am finding the Inn a bit difficult to work with. The 50% deposit for blocking is ludicrous!

Re: East Wind Brides

I also found that blocking rooms there was over the top - who has all that extra money when you're planning a wedding? I am getting married at the Estate and wanted to take a few pics in the lobby. I didn't know I have to call someone to schedule it though. Can anyone tell me who I have to call and how to (try to) get in contact w/ him/her?

I don't even know who my BM is - is that the person that I booked with?

I would contact your BM and tell them that you are having a problem with the inn. After all the money you are paying, you should not be having any problems!!!
