Easy Poll: Have you ever been scammed?

Im very upset right now

DW got a new job but is being scammed by the old job because they are cheap and don't want to pay severance. She did them a favor by staying and now, she is being repayed with nothing (as of now)

have you ever gotten scammed?

I got hustled in the produce section of Waldbaum's last week by 2 kids - does that count? They asked me for a quarter for the bus and I felt bad for them until I saw them asking someone on my way back around.

Not quite on the scale of that, but some bum stole my metrocard from right under my nose! Seriously - I was buying a monthly from the machine and he was telling me it wasn't working and somehow switched my new card for one that was expired - my friend was standing right there with me and we both have no idea how he did it!!

On the bright side, maybe he got a month of free housing out of the deal...

yes - when i worked at a deli near my house. the guy asked me for change of a ten, then 20, then 40..it went on and on and i think he wound up with $20 more.

not usually--I'm not very trusting,

However, a few months ago I bougt a matress & didn't want the $60 matress bad they recomended, but then they said they throw it in for free & we didn't realize untill after the bed came & we used the matress pad, that they charged us for it.

And I once when to an inforamtion session for a marketing job, that turned aboout to be some scam about sellign knifes door to door. I knew that inteh first 10 minutes, but I accepted the job, just be/c he phrased it in in a way I couldn't say no easily, & then I called up the next day & said no.

yes - I applied for a job once and wired this company money for a plane ticket to fly to an interview (it was for a flight attendant position). I never considered myself naive, but after I wired them the money (they gave me the option to pay for the ticket myself and get reimbursed later, or just have them do it for me, so I opted for the latter)....I never received a ticket or heard from them again.

This all happened on September 11, ironically.

Thomas... I'm sorry You and Your Dear Wife are going through this. When Bri and I met with Laura from La Productions on tuesday, all she did was praise you two. If I was you, I would go to her old job and say something.

Wait, was your DW laid-off? Or did she find a new job and quit? I thought severance pay was reserved for lay-offs and down-sizing?

she was laid off...but extended to help out another department. under the agreed terms (aparently, not anymore) she will be a temp for 6-9 mths...when its time by A. completeing her assignments or B. they tell her to leave or C. she found a job and ready to leave....

...her sevrance would start at that point.

They are being lil bishes trying to save a buck..meaning while, they are laying off everybody else. A manager brought up a good point if they accept 100+ people but deny 1 or 2 people..somthing is wrong.
