Edited for KARMA!! Girls with more than just wedding planning....

EDITED!!!:
So, 1. Thank you girls.
2. Those of you who know the situation I am going through with the clothes of my grandfathers literally being held captive by my evil aunt.... all I can say is KARMA IS A B*TCH!

Heres the most amazing thing ever that happened to me...

I found out today from the B*tch that she THREW OUT MY GRANDFATHERS CLOTHES!! After all the fussing about how she wanted them, and wouldnt give them to me or my mother, she THREW THEM OUT. I guess since I gave up and it wasnt holding much value to her now, she didnt need htem.
So, at first, i cried. Well, i broke down actually. I belonged in an insane ward. I couldnt believe that the one thing left of his (he was a man of little needs) was now gone.

The phone rings two hours ago and it's my grandmother... saying i have to come over she has to give something to me....

When I open the door she has a huge grin. She holds my hand and places something in it and says 'This is for you. Something for you to have always of grandpa with you. You were his pupa. His little doll jenny. And when i just find this inside, i know who it has to go to'

I open my hands and in it, is a gold cross. My grandfathers FIRST gold cross. From his childhood. The one he met my grandmother wearing and the one he wore when he married her.

And, now... i feel this HUGE weight has been lifted off my shoulders and I can deal with the family situations now. Because I finally have something of his. And it will be part of my wedding day, no matter what....

-flying high fazz haha

Re: Girls with more than just wedding planning....

My mother and I have a blowout at least once a month. It adds an element of stress in my life that I've NEVER been without. I also stress out about work A LOT. I'm such a worrier as it is, and when things go badly at work that really intensifies the way that I worry about things. Under normal circumstances, I find a good workout to be very relaxing and uplifting. It really lifts my spirits and eases the stress, if only for a little while. I also find that quality time with FH, the person who loves me unconditionally, really lifts me up from the bullsh*t in my life. A girls' night out every now and then doesn't hurt either. I don't know if any of that helps... but it's just my way of coping.

Re: Girls with more than just wedding planning....

ps- to add to the fact that i got a backbone, i want to let you in on a little story

some people are completely against fhand I not getting married in the church first. Saying we will be on a straight road to hell and all those who attend have to denounce themselves as catholics...

so, i finally had it, and after a family member (who by the way had a baby before getting married in the catholic church...) mentioned the he-double hockey sticks to me...

I sent her a picture of bright red shoes. I told her that since Im on my way to hell I may as well wear the color walking down the aisle...

would I have ever done this before liweddings?
NEVER
so thank you girls for helping support this backbone trip im on!

Don't feel bad we all have our crosses to bear between trying to plan a magical wedding and also having to deal with family drama. You just have to say the H@#* with them and let me be happy. And everything else will run smoothly. 'Don't Worry be Happy!!!!!'

I LOVE it! Good for you! I also agree with the bride with the nice suggestions such as working out, spending time with FH, and having time with the girls. Do something for yourself also like take time to read a book you want to read, do your nails, take a bubble bath. I need to follow my own advice by the way!

Re: Girls with more than just wedding planning....

You just have to stay strong!!! its ok to break down, cry, yell, scream! Dont let this effect you.. i have been going threw some family BS and i have letting it effect my everyday life. I had to take a step back and tell myself i can not let these people do this to me. Now when the drama starts and they dont agree with what i'm doing and they try and attack me... instead of sitting there trying to explain myself and getting myself upset. I just say ok thank u for your opinion but this is our wedding and we are going to do what we want. Sometimes u cant always be nice. I'm still respectful but maybe not 100% nice.

I agree... and also wanted to remind you that other people shouldn't take the joy of planning a wedding away from you.. It is your day and nobody should get in the way of your happiness... so keep standing your ground

Re: Girls with more than just wedding planning....

I have the same problem with 1/2 of FH's family. It's your wedding and if you don't want to get married in a church that's completely your decision. It's your wedding! It's a happy time so don't let anyone bring you down.

I just ignore the situation really because it doesn't have any emotional impact on me (never met most of them) or FH (he's not that close to that 1/2 of his family). Sure I may be under my 200 person minimum with 40-50 people not going to the wedding, but I have plenty of liwedding volunteers to fill some seats and actually have a good time!

i cant relate to your particular situation, but i have a great amount of sympathy and admiration for you that you seem to handle yourself so well.....as for me like most women i do have those mini breakdown cry and everything and pick fights with FH weeks and i guess you just have to remember to take time for yourself, and do things that make you happy......dont let yourself become numb inside from letting everything roll off you back, tell people off once in a while, but dont bring that anger and frustration with you through the rest of your day.....there are unkind, terrible, miserable people out there and as hard as it is you have to be strong and better than them and live your life for you......focus on the beautiful life your going to make with your FH and leave all their negativity with them.

Re: Girls with more than just wedding planning....

its hard to go through it. you just have to find something like a safe spot or a song that makes you feel better. the tattoo i got on my wrist in sept when before my aunt died was a great idea. everyone thought i was dumb but i knew id look at it and it would help me get through. it really helped when she passed and is helping me deal with my dad going through what she did, and knowing that he will pass soon too. and after all of this is over, i'll be able to look at it anytime something is going on and know that i made it through this tough time and can get through anything. cheesy i know but it really does help me. and i am sooo not religious or spiritual but it really helps.

and by the way. i remember when you 'first grew your backbone' and you are sooo soo strong to be standing up for everything you want and going against people especially your family and friends!

Aww Jenny, sorry all of this is happening to you! Aside from not knowing if one particular bridesmaid is speaking to me or not, I can't complain about anything wedding related.

Those who are jealous will alwaysbe that and just that. Hold your head up high and do what YOU want to do!

I am sorry you're going through this

I guess I am just a 'glass is half-full' person that I ALWAYS find the silver lining...I always KNOW that things happen for a reason and I just try to focus on the good things in my life when stress kicks in. When something especially stressful happens, I take all my power to focus on any one GOOD thing to take my mind off of it and it works.

Hope things get better soon

Aww Fazzie- don't worry. It'll be alright. I promise you everything will all come together nicely. What helps relieve stress?

Well, there is always sex And there is working out which works for me as well. A good night sleep helps. Going out to dinner. Watching a funny movie- I watched My Big Fat Greek Wedding the other night and it cheered me up! Feel better though! It's hard dealing with certain things during the planning process.
