I am a teacher in queens so I figure at this point I could catch it by staying here and going to work (and I can't cancel that so Im not canceling the fun stuff either!!!), I am going end of august so hopfully this will be all blown over by then

We were also booked for MX, Riveria Maya - but we just nixed the trip...last thing I want to be is sick in another country. I'm sure it'll be ok, but I don't want to take any chances...

Yea, I am still going too. But just so you know, it is in Queens because a group of students went to Cancun and came back with it.

I wouldn't panic yet. THere are people in this country with it and they are fine. THe outbreaks are in inner city areas.....I have 2 friends that have been in Mexico (resort areas) for the last 10 days and no one is sick.

and stay away from birds....they said this might be a combo of bird and swine....no pigs or birds and you'll be al good

I think you have some time, most airelines are now giving credit and waiving the change fee, if your really concerned have your TA call...we were scheduled to go as well, but we changed our plans - it's not worth the risk. MX will always be there...

Kids who go to St. Francis Prep in Queens went down there and brought it here - I heard no school there on Monday and Tuesday - so scary
i saw this on the news too, now its in NYC. 20 cases in queens and also some in nassau. Great and st. francis prep is not far from me and not to mention my managers sons all go to st. francis prep. They have prepared hospitals and put out an alert

Honestly you should find out some regulations.. There must a clause or something to help you instead of loosing $900.. Its not your fault the epidemic is taking over mexico... If I were you I will call and see what they can help you.. There MUST be something..

We're going to call the TA today and see what he can do. FH actually called the airline last night and they made it seem like we could cancel w/ money back. I just know if we went, FH would be constantly thinking about it b/c he's anal like that and I don't want to have it in the back on my mind. We shall see what happened later today with the TA

I would wait a little longer. Its only the end of April. I would think by June/July this will all be under control. But defnitely talk to the TA just so you know your options. Good luck.

Call the Airline you are booked with. They said on ABC News lastnight that the airlines are allowing people to re-route their flights who are originally scheduled to fly to Mexico, They may allow you to use the $900 towards a flight elsewhere. I would def call them to find out.

We're stopping in Cozumel on a cruise in 2 weeks and I'm slightly nervous but I also think the deaths are due to limited access to health care. Just make sure you get a recommendation for a good doctor in the area you'll be and if you feel under the weather, head right over there. And if you're staying in a resort, I'm sure they're on full alert right now and will have some information for you because it's a PR and customer service issue for them to put you at ease.
