Election Debate Over -- We're Talking Baseball Now
OK, I promised an edgy thread and I am going to deliver
I've been seeing alot of political threads on here in the last week. Now, I'm cool with threads that deal with issues on how to better the country and things like that.
But I think there have been too many threads by Kerry supporters who are analyzing the election, saying the voting system is not fair, the young people didn;t come out to vote, Bush got in, now here comes the draft, the country is doomed, Bush voters aren't as educated as Kerry voters.
Which leads me to a question. When do you think is enough is enough? the election is over, Bush is in, like it or not. To waste energy complaining is pointless IMO, you're not gonna change it. I'm all for debating issues where you can have an impact i.e women's rghts, abortion, racial discrimination
But to complain about something that is over and cannot be changed, don't you think it's too extreme and kinda like beating a dead horse.
I'm Don Murphy and I approved this thread

When do you think is enough is enough?
When? When Kerry announced his concession.
Although to be fair, I suppose some people want to change it for the future which is fine, but that is a slightly different argument.

I agree with you Don.
Me too.
Boy its scary when we all agree with Don, isn't it?
Then again , I don't believe any of us who just agreed with Don are typically the people who post on the political threads anyhow.. so perhaps those folks will differ on this opinion..

Re: The Election Debate
Don hoo-rah for you being back. I definitely think that its been enough..not just because the election is over but becasue people started name calling, others bashed people's opinions so its kind of counterproductive and honestly I noticed that posting slowed down too and I dare guess that its ecause the vibe of happiness changed due to all the political posts. But its not my board or your board tec so I guess its up to others to decide what type of 'feel' they perfer to have when they visit.

Re: The Election Debate
Well, I am one of those ppl who posted on the political debates and I understand politics is a sensitive issue. But, frankly it infuriated me at first that there were people saying the election was rigged and that anyone who voted for Bush is ignorant. I'm ok with it now but yes it's like get over it, and move on.

Re: The Election Debate
I'm definitely disgusted with the election results, and frankly the debates and discussion about the election possibly being rigged don't bother me at all. I don't trust anyone (any American politician or media outlet) at this point, and there were a lot of shady things going on throughout campaign season. I personally don't want to talk about it anymore, but I think it's important that people continue to question the way the system works (or no longer works) in this country. Conspiracy theories? Bring 'em on. Investigations of corporate malfeasance and election fraud? Bring 'em on.

No one said that they couldnt be discussed in an ADULT manner but alot of the posts went sour IMO so it wasnt a debate where people were sharing information anymore. The whole purpose about a debate is to listen to others opinions not bash people. Calling people ignorant and having a low IQ, uneducated etc..those are insults no matter how you call it. As long as those words are used..

Is that what happened? Luckily, I missed the whole thing. Sounds like I should be glad that I wasn't here for a few days! (Too bad I didn't escape completely unscathed... I live in the middle of a very Republican county, and I got called all sorts of nasty things for being a Kerry supporter. People suck.)

The more people discuss it, the less likely it is that the same crap will happen again next time.
