Election Debate Over -- We're Talking Baseball Now

Original post by don424

OK, I promised an edgy thread and I am going to deliver

I've been seeing alot of political threads on here in the last week. Now, I'm cool with threads that deal with issues on how to better the country and things like that.

But I think there have been too many threads by Kerry supporters who are analyzing the election, saying the voting system is not fair, the young people didn;t come out to vote, Bush got in, now here comes the draft, the country is doomed, Bush voters aren't as educated as Kerry voters.

Which leads me to a question. When do you think is enough is enough? the election is over, Bush is in, like it or not. To waste energy complaining is pointless IMO, you're not gonna change it. I'm all for debating issues where you can have an impact i.e women's rghts, abortion, racial discrimination

But to complain about something that is over and cannot be changed, don't you think it's too extreme and kinda like beating a dead horse.

I'm Don Murphy and I approved this thread

If you want to propose ways that we can fix it in the future, fine.

If you are concenered about the election contact your Congress Rep. New Jersey Congressman Rush Holt introduced a bill in 2003 that required paper trails for all voting machines. The bill enjoyed widespread support, but Delay never brought it to the floor so it was never passed. Contact your congressman and tell him you support the measure. I think it is called the 'Voter Confidence Act.' Also, NY Rep. Jerold Nadler has written to the GAO asking them to investigate documented voting irregularities that occured during the 2004 election. Contact your Rep. and tell them you support this measure. This is a good way to start reforming the election process.

Piazza for Green is a move you have to make if you are the Mets.

The whole reason why people want to hold onto Mike is so he can DEFINITELY go into the Hall with a Mets hat on.

I say big deal about the hall.

I've seen it all - I cannot believe Don hijacked his own thread and turned this into a baseball debate

In which case, I have no problem joining the 'I Hate the Mets' club

no because the mets are taking one step forward (possibly trading piazza -- i hate him)

and three steps back (sosa)

he's over the hill and another guy like floyd, vaughn, glavine, who's better days are behind him

lets face it Piazza HAS to go...he is a WASTE of money!
Sosa could bring some more hits to the team!

i agree about piazza

but they need to spend on building the crop of young talent, not some big name who's better days are behind him

i may consider not watching them next season if they do this

i would never switch, i just wouldn't watch

Re: Election Debate Over -- We're Talking Baseball Now

The only way they are getting Sosa is if Chicago eats part of the contract. Then it won't be too bad.

Chicago is screwed cause they need to trade this guy cause he is unhappy. But other teams are aware of this so they will offer Chicago jack for him and ask to eat like half his contract.

they need a team...if they don't get one there really is no reason to watch...

i think management is looking at it that sosa will bring more people to the ballpark, not necessarily help the team.
