Electric Fireplaces??

I'm trying to finish off a corner of our bedroom .. we've got the chaise in place .. need to do some accents around it .. floor lamp, table, etc .. but I'm looking to maybe do an electric fireplace .. because I don't want the stress of wood or gas burning fireplaces.

Does anyone have any experience with an electric fireplace???

They sound like an awesome compromise to the real thing.

Just wanted to add: I remember when we were house-hunting, a house had what I thought they called a 'halogen' fireplace .. it seemed amazing .. looked so real .. even gave off heat .. I guess it was electric??

We saw one tonight in Fortunoff. It was pretty big but it looked quite realistic. Sorry that I don't have any personal experience but that might be a place to look. I can't recall the price.

There was one on sale at JCPenney. It was originally $450 marked down to $170. I don't know if they still have it.

I'm actually interested in getting something like this .. we can't get anything too big because of the space available in the bedroom .. so something like this seems like it would work perfectly .. it's a Dimplex Deluxe Electric Stove .. (I have no idea of the price)

Thank you! I'm hoping to get one just like that (love the style of those legs) .. to go on a wall across from the foot of our chaise.
