Re: electric slide
I personally dont want it but I did have my engagement party where it was a hit and always seems to be a hit when played. Let that be the 'one' song you have played.
Avoid the macarena, the chicken dance and whatever corny dances there are....
JK to all who do like them

Re: electric slide
These group dances are one of the reasons why I am so glad I am DJing the bar/club scene and have gotten away from the Wedding/Party side.UGH!

Re: electric slide
No participation songs will be played at our wedding. I'm sure there are guest who enjoy them, but I just can't do it.

Re: electric slide
On my no play list. I am having a jazz/funk/New Orleans band that has an emphasis on swing so I cannot imagine it is really going to come up.

Re: electric slide
I can say I have never seen, or rather heard, any of these group participation songs played at a wedding..Don't let people talk you into it of you don't want it played..

Re: electric slide
Not a fan! Do what makes you happy, a good band or DJ will have everyone dancing regardless.

Re: electric slide
I feel I am being generous by allowing YMCA and Shout for my brother. There will be no other participation dances- I just can't do it

Re: electric slide
See, I like those songs, BECAUSE... people who normally DON'T dance, WILL for those type of songs! ones that they dont' hvae to 'be a good dancer' for, as I put it! It makes them feel comfortable to get up on the dance floor, and hopefully they will stay up after it!SO I'm playing them! YEAH!

Re: electric slide
these songs are party songs and not to say your wedding will be great, your recepection will be alive and jumping.older ppl grew up on this stuff.
you just cant play club/house music all day long cause it's what you like,
you have to consider and play some classics as well.

Re: electric slide
Trust me. Whether you want these songs or not... there is always at least one knuckehead at every wedding that will request it from the DJ.If you really don't want these songs played... make sure you tell the DJ in advance.
People request stupid stuff and they will try to back it up by telling the DJ 'I'll get everyone dancing'. *cough* *bs*
They usually end up to be the only fools on the dancefloor during that time.
