why does everyone ask if i'm going to have that song!!!!! i wasn't going to but all my oldie family members say 'oh you have to have that..everyone loves to do that at a wedding.'

I feel the same way as you, but in the end I'll probaby play that, the cha cha and the hustle. As much as I hate songs like that, people do dance to them. But I refuse to play the chicken dance, hot hot hot, or the macarena.

I also feel the same way regarding those songs but oh the looks I got when I said something to the mom's. So needless to say the chicken is required but I said absolutely no macarena and no dollar dance. For the cha cha slide I will go hang out in my bridal suite till it is over because I can't stand that song and I don't want to watch uncoordinated people trying to follow what the guy is saying.

It's banned at my wedding.I hate it and although others like to do it, the bride always gets pulled into those kinds of dances and I refuse.
I told the DJ not to even bring it.

These songs are going to be strictly prohibited at our wedding: electric slide, chicken dance, hot, hot, hot, hands up, and macarena. Oh...and any song by MEATLOAF! I refuse to participate in any line dancing. It's so 'sweet 16' to me.

FH's neices (also our FGs) have requested the Macarena and The Electric Slide. I wasn't going to have either of those dances. Since it will make them happy, I will add The Electric Slide. But I absolutely will NOT add the Macarena!

Same here. Electric slide is so cut!!!!I was a waitress in a catering hall in the late 90's so ALL I heard every party was the macerena, electric slide, hot hot hot, and the last dance! All are BANNED!

Yeah, I feel ya...the only 'group dance' we did was the Cotton Eyed Joe for our friends from Tennessee (they are twins & dance it so well, so it is cute to watch) and the dollar wine song b/c DH actually dances to it.
We had no other *traditional* dances...we had a song from Big Bad Voodoo Daddy as our last dance song!

'Bye Bye' was our last song... I totally love them....
DH & I saw them at the downtown in Farmingdale last year & they were awesome!!!

I think those group dances are pretty lame, but i think its hard for the older people to get up and dance so they love group dances and slow dances. My mother is insisting on the electric slide - its her favorite.
