Email from FH's cousin about no kids at the wedding....

Dude, the guilt trip isn't going to work. I don't care about you or your little bratty kid... do everyone a favor, keep your hundred bucks and stay home.

Enjoy reading...

Last you called I was on my way out the door and never returned your call. I have since lost your phone number from my 'recent calls' list.

I apologize but I should have made it clear to you right away that day that we would not be making it to the wedding as Tyler (and kids in general) would not be allowed to the wedding. I am not in favor of leaving him home to share in the day when he would be wishing he were there and wondering how it all was going.

He thoroughly enjoyed himself at the {FBIL's} wedding and was very happy to see Deb, Ashley, your parents as well as you and Steve. He was also excited taking pictures with his own camera for his own memories.

Please, please, please do not worry or make a big deal about it as it is yours' and hers' choice to arrange your wedding as you see fit. I have to be honest until this year I had not heard of that practice and always veiwed weddings as a larger family gathering, sharing in the event with some freinds invited as well. I always thought of it as a mini family re-union.

Anyway as I said, please don't fret over it as it is your wedding to plan, and your planning of the wedding to see to it as you wish.

We wish you all the best and will be in touch!

I wish we would have gotten that email instead of that stupid 'add-in' on the RSVP....

Screw them. 'Thanks for honoring our wishes. You (but not your kid) will be missed'

It has slight touches of guilt-tripping, but overall it's pretty nicely written...way nicer than a lot of other responses that girls with adults-only receptions have gotten! I dunno, it just sounds like they really want to explain properly and honestly why they'll be missing it.

wow... just wow....

he's bitter and makes that quite clear.

I DONT UNDERSTAND PEOPLE

Is it that big of a deal to not invite kids? He should be lucky he was invited!!

We had a no-child, small 48 person wedding, where less than half of our family was invited. surprisingly, that was less of a problem then where those 48 people were seated but whatever.... thats my own issue lol... but

WOW.

dont let that email get to you.

I wouldn't even reply. she knows the situation... she's trying to guilt you into it... don't give in. just forget it. if someone else brings it up simply explain that its not their business.

If he hadn't been complaining to FMIL about how inconsiderate we are (and why she feels the need to tell us these things is beyond me) I would think it was nice but these people are not normal people. They are the kings and queens of passive agressive.

It was nicely written... but dont think they needed 3 paragraphs to explain it... i thought it was full blown guilt trip

I just can't. I would reply to that e-mail as follows 'Yup'. I mean a wedding is not a family reunion and my personal opinion, it is no place for small children to run wild either. He did his wedding as he wanted and you do yours your way.

Gina...I've seen pics of your FH...he looks nothing like a Bengali person, and yet sometimes I swear that his extended family is also Neel's...

Why dont people understand that not everyone wants a bunch of kids running around nor do they want to pay for a plate for a child that is not going to eat it all. I also dont understand why they would take it so damn personel. As a mother of 2 I would welcome the opportunity to be able to go to a nice function without my child and have some grown up time without having to worry about where my child is, if he has to go the bathroom or if he is spilling food everywhere.

We are not having kids at our wedding also except for our own and i have been fortunate that my guests love the idea. I am paying for a babysitter to stay with the kids at the hotel.

I'm so sorry you're going through this. I would hate to get an email like this, especially since I like to try to make everyone happy. My parents never felt bad about leaving us home from a wedding, I never understood why parents these days feel so 'guilty' about leaving a kid home.

are you FREAKING KIDDING?

I'm so glad he thinks that weddings are a mini reunion, but you are having an evening reception. Kids can STAY HOME!

My family never takes their kids anywhere. They're happy to attend an adult only event sometimes. and when they do take their kids..they bring their NANNYS! ugh.

well, I'm sure you're not FRETTING over this.

and ya know, I love how he says, 'I am not in favor of leaving him home to share in the day when he would be wishing he were there and wondering how it all was going.'

10 bucks says he doesn't give a rats azzz about it. I didn't want to go everywhere w my parents as a kid.

oh cry me a freaking river!!

You should reply:

Sorry you won't be able to share our special day with us! It's too bad God didn't invent babysitters, huh? Oh well. See you at the next family function!

Love you bunches!

I am reminded by the many events my parents went to and left me and my brother home with a sitter. No we did not miss the event. Yes we had more fun with the sitter. The only thing I remember is my mommy was nice and brought us home a treat on a dish she swiped from the hall - and she still has the dish.
