Emma has a fever and no other symptoms

Emma woke up last night about 3:45AM and she felt warm. I took her temp (orally) and it was 100.8. She doesnt have any other symptoms of being sice other than shes more sleepy than normal and her eyes are kinda glassy.

Any other moms have any ideas/advice for me??

Should I give her some Tylenol to bring down the fever or should I let it run its course???

it could be her teeth comin in. Tylenol is a good idea - also give her a cool bath

Thanks - I think i will. This is the 2nd time since shes been born that she has had a fever... I don't have much experience.

don't worry - it gets easier, I used to call the doctor for the sniffles, now I hand Justin a tissue

I wonder if something is going around like that because I had the same thing (I'm not a baby though) but I had a fever of 101.5 for the last 2 nights and no other symptoms. I took 2 Advil periodically and the fever broke. I feel fine now. Call your pediatrician!

Misha - thats interesting. Who would have thought fever and nothing else... glad to know you had the same thing. I did call my ped first thing this AM and the nurse there said if the fever just started and there are no other symptoms just to keep an eye on her and let the fever go... if it gets worse or develops symptoms bring her in.

my friends daughter had that - it turned out she has allergies (sinues were stuffed causing the fever) there are a lot of people having allergy probelms now - could that be it?

I dont think so. She doesn't have a stuffy nose or anything. There is nothing wrong accept a fever which by the feel of her head is going down... very odd

It could be teeth. It could be the weather change. I wouldn't worry. Just give her some tylenol. She should be fine. If she still has a fever tomorrow. Call the Doctor. Sleep helps though!!

My nephew used to get fevers with his new teeth coming in often. And the fever is not that high so that is also good.
Did you call the doctor?

I hope its teeth but its the first time that teeth has caused a fever, she has 6 teeth already.

The whole fever thing has made my plans for the day change. We got her a pool and its so nice out I was going to put her in it and get me some sun... nope we are stuck inside.

Karen, I would call the pediatrician. If her fever is climbing, it might not just be teething. She could have a sore throat (which she cannot tell you), or she could have an ear infection. See if you can take her into the office asap!

Goodness.. I guess I might be a lil more neurotic than most.. I would bring her in to be seen right away.. Why wait to see what other symptoms occur?
Dont listen to the receptionist.. tell them your baby has a fever and you need to bring her in now.
