Re: Emma has a fever and no other symptoms

well Emma and I just got back from the Dr. He found nothing wrong with her other than the fever. He said it is pretty common to have a child with a fever and nothing else wrong. The fever should last 48-72 hours then either end with cold symptoms or a slight rash on her torso. Other than that she should be fine. ALSO he told me not to give her Tylenol unless her fever gets over 103. or she is visibly uncomfortable...

My poor little baby.

Thats good news.. I'm happy you brought her in for that peace of mind.
I hope she feels better tomorrow..
What are you sopposed to give her for the fever?
Why not baby tylenol?

Re: Emma has a fever and no other symptoms

Oh sorry maybe I should have elaborated... He said a fever is a bodies immune reaction to something invading the body and if you give Tylenol to reduce the fever you are working against the immune system. Makes sense right?

Re: Emma has a fever and no other symptoms

Karen, I am so glad you took her in! I NEVER, NEVER give Paul ANY medicine without consulting the doctor first, or bringing him in to be evaluated. I am not about to self-diagnose my child.

And, I'm glad to hear that Emma' pediatrician does not believe in over-medicating a child, either. That's great! Hope she's feeling better, soon!

I agree that over-medicating is not a good thing since when you need meds to work they sometimes don't if a child or adult has been given too much of them.

Re: Emma has a fever and no other symptoms

My pediatrician told me the same thing. Not to give the baby Tylenol at all unless she directs us to. Now I see why. Makes perfect sense!
