Ok - I have a bunch of guests coming to my wedding from out of town. I know that sometimes out of town guests tend to bring a gift instead of giving money. Well, some of my friends have asked where I am registered, but both of my registries are completely empty aside from an air purifier that FH wants (and I could care less about). What should I tell them????

Re: Empty registry - and people are asking
Have you received very many nice matching photo albumns? I know that it took 3 albumns to hold all of my table camera photos, and I know tons of people are still going to give me cameras, and yet my albumns so far are all not matching and one of them I odn't even like that much but it's what I had right now. In retrospect I wish I'd have registered for some nice, matching photo albumns or even nice frames that are my style.

you can never have too many towels, sheets or glasses!
I agree.
Add stuff on that you might have put on, but you didn't 'cause you probably thought you didn't need/want.
If you can maybe you can tell them to give you money so you can put towards items that are not registered (furniture, appliances, etc.)

I don't really have anything to add, since everyone else's ideas are so great. I just wanted to say that, when I'm coming up on my wedding, I hope I have the same problem as you!

Wow you're so luck to be in 'this' situation. I had 2 registries and one of them had EVERYTHING on it. Not one person bought one item from it. I was shocked.
You could always add stuff, like one of the girls said like towels and sheets and stuff like that or just leave it be. People will just get you gift cards if your registry is empty.

Re: Empty registry - and people are asking
Thanks for all the suggestions! I think I'll add table linens and stuff like that maybe even curtain rods. FH and I bought a house and moved in about 3 months ago and everyone was so generous at my shower, but I will find more to register for.
Does anyone think it is weird to give a gift instead of money??

Oh I thought this was for your shower For the wedding I always give a monetary gift.
Then I say, like I mentioned before: 'tell them to give you money so you can put towards items that are not registered (furniture, appliances, etc.) things for your new house.'

Re: Empty registry - and people are asking
I always give money but I know places other than N.Y.give gifts instead of $$$. My friends boyfriend is from Missouri and he can't believe that people actually give money as a gift for a wedding. Hopefully he'll change his mind for mine

My FH is from Minnesota and he mentioned to me that I shouldn't be surprised if our out of town guests from the midwest bring us tangible gifts and not monetary ones.

NY is one of the few places where people give money and not gifts......

People in other areas of the country usually give gifts - I think it is just the NY area/some east coast that give money.
I was also going to say register for picuture frames that YOU like. I got a few, but they were smaller ones, I ended up buying a few 8x10s after the wedding for our prints from the photographer.

I would do the Bed Bath and Beyond thing and exchange for cash - or if you have room, stock up on sheets and towels, then store them in the back of a closet so you don't have to buy for many years!

I would tell them where you're registered. Play dumb. They don't know if you've been looking at your registry. Once they see the gifts have all been bought, they'll think of something else.
